Started phase one of expanding the driveway area at my new home. A slightly sunken area that had a brush and debris pile will be where I’m expanding. So first thing was to move the pile about 40’ and push it into the woods a bit. Started with the grapple and swapped to the bucket towards the end before getting called in for errands with the wife!

Finally got a chance to use the HLA root rake/grapple. I started to clean up the property line. There's a lot of rock, dead wood and Hawthorne bush/tree's.

There are also fence posts that I'll replace once i get the mess cleaned up and plant some decent trees for privacy and a windbreak.

Still too wet to bring them M over to the woodpile so little T1460 gets the nod to haul splitter and wagon.
I have to put a hitch on the wagon so I can haul them both at once.
Those little trailers are handy, are they not?

I just got 60 yards of free "fill" dirt from the twp. Moved 50 yards of it tonight in about an hour and a half to fill in some swampy areas back at the range. Just need a quick touch up with the box blade and it should be ready for grass seed.

Started with 6 piles

Now I have one left for "dressing" with the box blade. I love free fill dirt.

Received my pallet forks from EA yesterday. Whoa, takes a winch to slide those forks on the frame. 1st thing took it into the garage and greased every surface that 'might' touch something while adjusting forks. Did make some difference but their tolerances must be tight.
IIRC my old forks were also a PIA to adjust.

On Friday I went out and bought a nearly brand new disc from a guy on CL. $750 for the disc, they want $1100 or $1200 at TSC. Seems ridiculous, but, whatever.
Saturday I spread out the rest of the pile of black dirt (read "horse poop") that's been sitting in my front yard for... Man, it's at least 7 or 8 years... It was all sodded over and everything. The pile didn't actually look like that much dirt, that is until I started scooping it and turning it over itself.
After getting that all spread out I pulled the disc over it a bunch trying to till the black dirt into the existing dirt/sand so that I might turn it into lawn. Still have a bunch of discing to do to break up some more of the clumps of sod, but between that, my roller (repurposed 500 gallon propane tank) and a chain harrow, I should be in good shape.
Now I just need to get into shape to push my 21" push mower over 4 times the area that I have been previously... Shit...

Oh, I also made up a wood rack out of a pallet and some boards and filled it up. Tractor was a little light in the back end. I threw the disc on and tried again and, voila. Able to move a little shy of a face cord around with ease.

Pulled a #150 Feral Hog from my culvert crossing that he butt plugged. Shot him early Friday morning on my way to meet a buddy to go bass fishing. He ran 50 yards into woods, so I thought. I don't track hogs because if they run off the field, I let nature...Coyotes and Buzzards do the rest.

I guess he ran to the creek or the coyotes dragged him into the creek. 2.5" of Rain Saturday morning and I went to check crossing between storms. Damn. Hog would have to stop up my upper culvert pipe.

I have a new MX5400 with a FEL. I was able to hoist him up with a rope tied to the grapple and drag him to a place where he became part of the food chain.

This is hog number #52 dispatched since November 1, 2020.

Alabama F&W require a Harvest Report sent in Nov-Sept. for Hogs and Coyotes. After deer season ends, permits are issued to hunt them 24/7. This is hog number 302 dispatched in the past 4 years on 115 acres of land. I HATE Feral Hogs.

Nasty critters, not worth the time or effort IMHO.... I can't even give them away....

Rototillers on four legs....Destructive animals.

I have vultures that waddle, they are so fat they can't fly! LOL

I used the FEL to (carefully) push over a standing dead tree. It was about 8" or so at the base. After I got it leaning 30 degrees or so I went to work with the bucket to rip the roots. The tooth bar is awesome :)
Then it was pretty easy to push it almost all the way over.
It was considerate enough to stay off the ground so I could cut the larger piece into 30" firewood. Chipped everything under 3" and then carried the firewood in the bucket & stacked it at the curb.
Two hours later I happened to be at the top of the driveway walking the dog when a woman drove up and asked if she could take it. I even offered to load it into her suv but she declined.
Though we are in a cul-de-sac whenever I put firewood up there it disappears quickly. At least it gets used.
