What is this "snow" thing you speak of?![]()
Good morning RCW…I am guessing it’s one of the following….Wow - tomatoes are peppers. 6-8 weeks away here.
Dog was licking up some of the snow left in the yard. Lots of folks in the nearby hills have a foot-plus on the ground.
Remind me why I live in New York?!??!![]()

I don't think a single flake of snow has fallen in my yard since I have been alive. (45 years)It is some sort of white fluffy looking stuff that falls from the sky, often weighs a lot, and collects everywhere, including on trees.
Luckily we don't have it here, or the extra weight would cause our palm fronds to break off.

Yeah, we’re very rural in our area. I’m not far from Chanceywd. Taxes and some other stuff still apply though….Good morning RCW…I am guessing it’s one of the following….
My in-laws live in Upstate NY…there are only a couple reasons I have found to be there…1. Love of High taxes. 2. Love of BS laws. 3. Love of traffic and angry people in high density living areas 4. Love of family that takes priority. 5. Love of the best state in a Natural sense…it’s the best state (western NY, finger lakes, Great Lakes, several mountain ranges (adirondacks simply the best), and they have a coast….it’s awesome….except for numbers 1 thru 3. IMO there is nothing like the adirondacks…despite 1 - 3 I’d still consider buying buy property there in retirement if I could afford it.![]()
I'm thinkin that is a cherry tree.Son and his fiancé moved into my father’s old house, about a hundred yards from us a couple months ago. We renovated the interior of the house and did some maintenance type stuff with landscaping but being it was winter when they moved in, all agreed we would leave the landscaping through spring so they could see what it all really looks like when it’s in bloom and/or green. This is a good example: View attachment 98906
When they moved in, this was a plain, leafless tree in the yard of the still unoccupied house on the other side of the ridge from them but in their sight as much as any part of their front yard. But, in the spring, it is covered with purple blossoms. So all agree it stays.
Most of the azaleas, boxwoods, and dogwoods are also staying. But these on the carport end of the unoccupied house; they’re 25 to 35 years old and they’re just not doing well. Never have. Popped them out with the grapple, dumped the root balls in the hole where we dump such things. View attachment 98907
Chipped the tops and also picked up a grapple load out of the perennial brush pile to add more chips to that area plus a couple of trees where we added border for mulch.

Also, we have this odd area where a developer owns the west side, another developer owns the east side, and we own a 60’ wide strip though the middle separating their two properties. (Which of course they’re very happy about.) View attachment 98912 View attachment 98913 Right now, it’s grassy. When the soil temp rises later in the year, kudzu will take over the entire area. Even before the grass, there are several clumps of daffodils that bloom, probably a couple hundred bulbs. If you look really closely on the right side of the barely visible trail in the first pic you might see one of the clumps. They just finished blooming. How they got there, no clue. Most of them happen to be on our 60’ x 400’ strip so we dug up probably 150 or so and moved them; some to our place and some to the other houses. Yeah, I know we probably should have moved them over winter when they were dormant but they have at least some chance of survival if they’re moved. Long story that’s still in progress, but not likely they’ll have any chance if they’re not moved.
Despite a bit of intermittent rain, it was still a nice afternoon of pretty low stress working with wife, son, and son’s fiancé’.
I think the same. Pretty sure it’s some sort of ornamental cherry my brother planted when he lived 25 to 35 years ago. He can’t recall exactly what it is either but also agrees cherry.I'm thinkin that is a cherry tree.
I like all these cat photos. I haven't had cats for years but have always loved them. I'm worried about them getting run over, or killed by coyotes or something. The only cat I have these days is yellow and it prefers diesel to milk.
I mounted 4 new ag tires to my b2100. currently waiting on power steering parts to come in, so i can rebuild the power steering. i swapped out the turf tires ( they still hold air, but dry rotted ) with some tread left on them, but i needed more traction for an up coming job i need to get done as soon as the ground dries up some ?. they are Carlise, farm specialist. on brand new kubota rims. when you switch from turf tires to ag tires ?, you must also install the tires on different rims, turf tire rims are not the same rim styles for ag tires.Man, those look like they ought to get some 'bite'.
Can you tell us what brand/make they are? Look great!
From the photo, I would say an ornamental crab apple. I have one just like it.I think the same. Pretty sure it’s some sort of ornamental cherry my brother planted when he lived 25 to 35 years ago. He can’t recall exactly what it is either but also agrees cherry.

I put the same thing on the front of mine....but I wasn't sure what the rears were on yours.they are Carlise, farm specialist. on brand new kubota rims. when you switch from turf tires to ag tires ?, you must also install the tires on different rims, turf tire rims are not the same rim styles for ag tires.
