Hauled a few logs and bucked them yesterday. Working on splitting today. At least I have help.

Inaugural try at evaporating sap and cutting a small log with my little girl.
I'm impressed with that 3-point tote. What's the Kubots model number? I want.
And enjoy that syrup! Have you a thermometer for the sap temp as it boils down? Just be careful at the end, it will want to foam over near the end, have to catch it just as that happens. I've boiled our Manitoba Maple (boxelder) sap for many years. It's amazing syrup! I have 5 drip pails that I harvest daily and simply boil down on our electric range every day for a few hours. It usually makes about 1 1/2 cups of syrup, which I seal in a small sterile mason while piping hot jar then store in the fridge.
I still have some from last spring.

Put on a FEL level indicator: 1/2 inch PVC, elbow, couple caps, eye bolt with 2 nuts and big washers, hose screw clamp. Will Goop the hose clamp later to better hold it in place, as it cannot be tight.

On the B2601. Put on left side because of nothing there vs. lines on the right side.

I’d think you might like it…has the maple leaf on it even. You should be able to see the sticker below. The label says it will hold 500lbs? The box was a throw in from the dealer on BX I used to have. I built a simple plywood frame that sets in it and then put sand in…i set it up to hold two saws, wedges and tools in one side and log chain and long handles on the other. I think concrete inside would be better, however I use sand so I can grab a handful if needed to throw on Icey drive in the winter…then just add as needed…the hitch though was my weld in creation. It lets me bring trailer into the woods and I can even drag logs off it…works well for the B.

What model Pup is that I see the back of in the last photo? Looks like it likes to hang out with you!

Ya know the more I play with that grapple the more I like it. I think as of this afternoon the brush pile is higher than the last one I burned. And no luggin tuggin or naughty words used to stuff on the pile

Just finished a pad for new greenhouse. It’s level but need to spread some gravel for the base. It’s a Little to windy to assemble today unless I am looking to sleep on the coach….this much wind pretty sure would not work out with the spousal unit helping hold stuff.

Church needed several hundred yards of silt fence removed. T posts, 2” square wire, and poly burlap. If course you usually don’t need a silt fence in a flat field so it was an interesting exercise getting to them without landing on my head. Picked up a T post puller from Tractor Supply for about $12. Wife hooked them up. Grapple worked pretty well for ripping the wire out and stuffing it in a dumpster, too.

Loaded up and ready to roll out.

A tame section of the fence which must go. There’s a lot more on the 50+ acre property.

The simple flat 1/2” plate at the end of the chain is the T post puller. Worked very well. Quicker, easier, less likely to slip than a chain by itself. Hole with a chain slot on one end; square hole capped with a triangular hole on the other to grab the post.

There was a guy out there with two very dull chainsaws and his pre-teen sons trying to cut some deadfall into small pieces to carry about a couple hundred feet out of the woods to his trailer. He couldn’t figure out why his nice Stihl saw was cutting like the backside of a butter knife. Talked him into cutting them into lengths to fit his trailer, skidded them out for him, and loaded them on his trailer. Suggested he take the chain to a local saw shop for sharpening or replacing before messing with the logs further. Partly because I’m sometimes a nice person. Partly because his operation and ours were kind of occupying the same space.

Thats a great tip about the T post puller. Funny story about the Stihl saw. If deadfall he probably hit dirt. Then wondered why so hard to cut.
It serms grapples are the bomb. My next purchase i think.

What did I do to my Kubota today? Nothing. I stood next to it in the garage and looked at my muddy yard and said “too soon”. It was 70 and breezy so the ground is getting better but not quite there yet. 😡

Might have missed you mentioning this elsewhere -- which canopy is that on your MX?
My dealer installed it, but this is the one:

It is steel and holds up to being trailered.

Cut some more trees today & made a decent brush pile. The trees are mostly hedge, cedar & black locust. I hope the tires (R4) hold up to the black locust. I put “Liquitube” in all 4 tires. Those thorns are evil looking.

They will not. The leak stop may help some, but I’d carry some plugs and tools with you.
