Yesterday I welded up some ramps for my trailer - need to take my tractor and backhoe to my parents to plant some trees. Also fabbed up a "man lift cage" from a water tote frame - now I have a work platform for up to 6 1/2 feet up when I start some renovations here.

Used the L3301DT to wrestle some small shrubs and small Juniper (Eastern Red Cedar) trees that were 4~5" in diameter and deposit them in a burn pile. With the addition of the BXpander tooth bar it was a fairly easy task. Had to use 4WD on the Junipers though.

I have to do something like this. I have a black snowblower syndrome going on.

Added some filter protection to the Hydraulic and Transmission filters for my B2650

Outa time (have to work this weekend) otherwise, I would be fabricating up the fuel filter/fuel line protection too. Oh well.....next week I hope.

I'm thinking you must have a Toyota land cruiser. If I'm right what year and any pic's you can post?
Hi Bearbait

This is from several years ago.....I still have the FJ40 ('73).....parked next to the house waiting for the rebuild that I just can't get the time and energy (well....and spare funds) to get it back to runnin the rocks or mud or beaches....

Heck of an awesome rig though!

Finalized the shims/brackets for the bolt on thumb. Just need to weld them in place on the boom along the edges, then the boom will get a paint job while I have the cylinder seals done and new hoses made up.

That is excellent work and idea. Hyd filters are easily damaged by flinging items being moved about.
That dog is absolutely determined to help out! I like that dog!

Don't mean to be didactic but it's scarey to see you're under the tractor with no jack-stands and only hydraulics appearing to hold it off you.

That's a beauty! My friend had one and I had the pickup. We spent countless hours working on both mainly because we spent all our spare time in the mud and off road. They were times I will never forget.:D

Thank you Sir....I enjoy fabricating stuff a lot! The dog...well....shed a keeper!
I had the front tires up on stands....figured if the back stabilizers failed, still plenty of room not to be a statistic :)

I've had so many FJ's, I lost count....but have kept this one
since '96....it was bone stock back then. Now, not so much.

Finally made a grill guard now that the snow melted enough to get at my scrap metal pile. Maybe it'll keep me from breaking anymore headlights.

Installed the 24" titan thumb.

I was concerned about stressing the dipper stick since they don't sell a thumb for this model but as it turns out, the mounting plate pretty much spans the length of the dipper stick so there is no real concern of bending.

I did find that the original pin locations didn't appear to allow the thumb to extend far enough in my opinion so I added another set on the brace mounting and the thumb pivot point. Installed it yesterday and quite happy with the results, and surprised how much it can lift.... If the bucket and thumb can get around it, it will hold and lift it without an issue. I can see that it would be easy to tip the tractor if you made sudden movements holding a large rock, with the boom at maximum swing but there are lots of ways to tip a tractor.

Pretty happy over all, I may notch the bottom of the thumb for the centre tooth at some point so it will close against the shell of the bucket but so far it seems to do quite well. I may try making one for the JD400, it would be nice to be able to lift 1000lb rocks and have more reach but for $150 I am very happy with this.
