Weird... S2200 injection pump on M4500DT S2600 engine?

Help! This tractor is supposed to have a S2600 engine, and on the engine block beside the injection pump is the serial number "S2600-A-1599". So far, so good. HOWEVER the data plate on the pump itself reads "ND-PFR6M55/1 ND076" and "S2200". Also, the dipstick is embossed "S2200".

Can anyone explain to me this inconsistency please? Did the M4500 tractors with S2600 engines originally come out with an S2200 pump? And a dipstick marked S2200? If it should have a S2600 pump, what is the physical difference between a S2200 pump and a S2600 pump? From my research the parts all seem to be the same. Is the pump cam different - but it shouldn't because the pump stroke is the same on both engines?

The service manual shows the dimensions of the S2600 and S2200 engines are exactly the same (just different cylinder bore), so S2200 dipstick should be same as S2600 I imagine.

I'd really appreciate comments from anyone familiar with these engines and/or tractors. Thanks!

Yep don't panic, quite normal for kubota to have done that on older models.
They did it all over the tractor, same parts fit several different models, and they don't change the plates to match the model it's used in.

Example, I have a L3450 yet the front axle is a L3650 axle.

Just to satisfy my curiosity, I assume more diesel is injected to create the extra torque for the S2600 (compared to a S2200), but what is the physical difference in the fuel injection system that enables this?

(Edit: probably irrelevant by now but the other numbers on the pump data plate are ND 094500-0761)

with the pump # provided I looked it up.. the pump goes on an S2200 engine..
That's not to say they didn't use the same pump for a 2600 & just adjust the max. fuel output w/ the engine screws..?? {S2200=1400rpm w/9mm rack=23cc+-1}
But its strange they didn't mention THAT on the test specs..{fits S2200 AND S2600}
& when I tried searching for a pump that fit an S2600, it came up "no data found"..??
SO IF u can somehow get a PUMP # for a 2600 I'd gladly look up the fuel delivery..

Typically there is not a physical difference. Because the fuelling is also your throttle the position on the rack and injection timing are the only difference. Most likely on a S2600 there will be less shims under the pump allowing for a longer/larger stroke on the fuel camshaft.

Typically diesels are fuelled until the governor reaches its max permitted RPM or until the the engine runs out of torque (Directly related to Stroke, larger the stroke, the larger the torque) and at that point they become overfuelled (Black smoke)

Thanks for that info guys.

I pulled the dipstick on another M4500 a couple of days ago - it has S2200 embossed on it too, so I will relax... :)
