Watering a Garden

I am looking at making a water layout for my garden. It is not super big. I am planning to fabricate some 3' x 9' PVC frames. The frame will have tiny holes drilled all along the bottom so that I can just pipe it to a large drum and let the water slowly run out and water that section of the garden. Then I can make 4 or 6 of these and lay them out across the garden. I feel like making some moveable 3' x 9' frames will let me move them around irregardless of the garden size.

Anyone have a better idea for easily watering a garden that might be planted slightly smaller or larger each year? I plan to have the garden fully fenced and it is easier to move the water than the fence.

3 inch might be too big depending on water source. 2 in should be more than enough.

I built a 'header' from 1.5" ABS, with 9 hose ends off the Tees. connected about 1,000 feet of 'weeping' hose, used well water pump for years. this setup was in <less than 1/4ac veggie patch.
the 'trick' is to put the header(40' long in my case) in the RIGHT spot first time. And do the math a 1.5" pipe = 9 x 1/2" hoses, so to get the volume you need the header. If it's smaller, you can use a 12V pump/battery. probably 1/2hr every 3 days will work, did for me, it's a 'trial and error' thing.

I did some reading on the drip line. It sounds like exactly what I need. I am planning to have a barrel that I will fill with water every day or two. I can run a header off the barrel to the end of the garden area. My area is slightly downhill, so I am planning to run the lines down hill. I want a fairly slow drip. Now to figure out a cover for the barrel that lets rain in but keeps mosquitos out...

if you have power nearby, toss a 'fountain pump' into the tank with hose, as long as the water's in motion , ZERO mosquitos !! 'trick' is get it to 'move' the water around and around. couple of old battery jumper alligator ends work well to hold hose juuuuuuuust right.
