85Hokie, what you been doing to inspire that football team?

They must have one inspiring coach!

I've played for a few coaches like that. One time were were in second place at the end of the season, playing the first place team. We were all out there shooting baskets acting like it didn't matter and was just going to do whatever we wanted because essentially the season was over.

Coach got us in the locker room and went to each guy telling them what their strengths were and how to apply that to the guy they were covering. What ever he said changed the entire teams attitude. Score at half time was 32-2. They had made two free throws.

That experience made a big difference later in life when things seemed out of control, or didn't seem possible, I could reflect back and know we all have more power and control, especially when united.

Those players now have a new paradigm that will effect their lives forever.

D2Cat,

I have to tell ya - as many games as I have attended, from the late 90's till last year - been to well over 100 games, traveled around the east coast to follow too. I have been so pissed off in the past I could bite through a 20 penny nail at some of playing that has gone on in the past. Dont get me wrong, Frank was a hellva motivator, great guy and cannot say enough good things about him, but....sometimes he got beat at his own game!

Last night I drove 30 miles to my son's house to watch, lot of his friends there too - them thar young wipper snappers......I left and drove home as the score hit 17-nil, listened on the radio at 24-0...... I said to myself, here we go again!

Got home and the wife said, "want to watch the game?" - I said hell no........

Got on the computer and hit espn 30 minutes later......glad they have 7 points now...
Came back about 10 minutes later and boom - 24-21, then I knew something was up!

I have to give it to Coach Fuente and those players, most would have realized that no matter how you play, you cannot overcome all those mistakes!

Then again, they did the same thing at notre dame too, and then again at Acc championship. I'll tip my hat to Coach Fu and his crew, that will be remembered for a lonnnng time to come by those that were there and those who made it happen.:)

This Coach has one thing that really inspires me - cool as a cuke, never takes credit for his work, and loves the kids as much as Coach Beamer does. Men like that are not a dime a dozen! Next year ought to be .....something else!

Normally I stop watching a game once the score differential gets over 21 points, but with that game something just seemed different. I would have otherwise started watching a movie at halftime, but I watched the second half instead, and couldn't hardly believe what happened.

Gosh, as a long time fan and alumnus of Syracuse University, I wish I could say the same about coaching.
Jim Boeheim is great sometimes. Others, not so much....

For 35 years, I've said the most vulnerable time for SU is the first 5 minutes of the second half. Can you say Ewing or Georgetown?
That's coaching and Boeheim's weakness.
