Using wheel ramps

I have a L4060 and during the winter I run the front end 4 point quick hitch with a snowblower. As I get older and the joints get stiffer I find it harder to get underneath the tractor to do the fun tasks like greasing the u-joints. Wondering if anyone on here uses wheel ramps to raise the front end of the tractor (with chocks for the rear wheels of course.)

Would love any feedback or insight on this one. Searched the forum and came up empty.

You could do it, but you'd have to determine the proper load capacity. I dunno, would the front axle weight on your tractor be more or less than a car??

I made a pair of 'sectional' platforms with ramps from good 2by10 lumber. Each is 6' long consisting of 2'-3'-1' sections, made up of 8 layers or board, so 8x1.5" tall ( about a foot). held together by a 2by 4 on the outside. Also have 'ramps' about 4' long,made same way, layers of 2by10s.
The idea is to drive up the ramps onto the platforms, then remove the center 3' section, which allows me access to do greasing and oil changes. This has been used to service my 7,000# forklift for the past 4-5 years. I put wheelchocks on both front and back, simple 2by2 cleats screwed in. Kind of a pain to store all the pieces but NICE when you have to crawl under for service !

I use rhino ramps, for all my vehicles. Mine I believe are 10,000lbs capacity.

I would. 16k capacity? No problem. I use them for my cars and my BX. Not a problem at all.

I’m not worried about the ramps collapsing. The machine slipping off that small ramp would be my concern. I have heavy vehicle ramps made of steel that are wider and have wheel cups so there’s less chance of rolling. Chock blocks are good but not infallible.

If you are on a flat, paved surface, it's got no reason to go anywhere. I only put one set of wheels up at a time.

Howdy - curious as to why you say you would not use these ramps. The specs state that they can hold 16,000 lbs. and the 4060 w/the hitch and blower comes in at less than 6,000. What is it that concerns you?

I use rhino ramps, for all my vehicles. Mine I believe are 10,000lbs capacity.

Hey NB - thanks - do you chock the rear wheels also?

Mark - I have a utility building that I would use the ramps in. Just interested in raising the front enough so that I can actually work without working as hard.

I had the old version of these ramps and they were grey in color and worked great for many years. I replaced those ramps with these ramps and my F-550 crushed the ramp first time I used it. I would guess my F-550 front end weight at 4500lbs. I use the ramps but also use a 3.5K floor jack as added insurance.

According to tractordata.com your bare MX6000 weighs a max. of 4,268 lbs.
Assuming loader is not included, and might weigh 1,000 lbs. additional, .... your total weight should be 5,268 lbs.?
THAT is distributed over TWO axles!

My L48 TLB total weight is 7,750 lbs........ and I would not hesitate one moment to use those 16K rated ramps!

No reference is provided to describe which ramps "these ramps" are.
The Rhino 16K ramps in post #5, or the steel ramps in post #11?

That was my thought - I do appreciate the clarification from jyoutz about possible rolloff potential. I plan on measuring my front tires and validating that whatever I buy can handle the tire size.

The ramps in post #11 don't handle enough weight as far as I am concerned.

No but I'm in a garage cement floor and flat. Plus mine have like a valley built into the ramps, once in its good
