Using QA pallet forks on 3PT

I have QA pallet forks that I would like to also use on the back of my tractor. I recently came across 3PT to QA adapters that are designed for this purpose. Are there any issues with using those adapters? Are there better solutions to make use of my existing pallet forks on the 3PT?

Please post a link to those. They sound interesting.

Just remember that the 3PT is rated much higher than the loader, so make sure the forks are rated high enough. If you add a hydraulic center link, it will be easier to position the forks and add back angle after the load is on. A nice idea as a back up to the loader or to haul two things at once!

That looks interesting. Hmmm, anyone making one a little less that Titan?

I have had those since I originally had a BX. They work just fine but they can be a little awkward to attach.

Other point I would note is in the rear you don’t have the ability to roll bucket forward and trim the load up…at least my machine didn’t…all you have to true things up (and in many cases you need to tilt back) is the manually adjusted top link.

I used mine so that I could put my forks on the 3 pt. (After I built a carry all I don’t have much use for them…only use now for an occasional drop shipment if loader can’t handle it…they are helpful to have when it’s night, raining and something heavy on a pallet at end of your driveway)

They work fine…only limited by can’t lift very high and manual tilt in the 3 pt. Depending on what you are moving (wanting to move stuff or something specifically on pallets forks are the way to go….if just stuff, then )a 3 pt carry all may be more convenient?

From the 'operational' view...
You're better off with buying a 3PH 'carry all' implement. Far cheaper and better.

If you use a 3PH to QA adapter, you reduce 'payload' by the weight of the adapter. Also ,you have 2 hookups and unhook operations every time you use forks out back. It's also longer ( away from tractor).

With a carryall, one operation to hookup, 1 to unhook. Also increased payload and closer to tractor,so easier to carry.

First implement I made was a 'carryall' using forklift forks. Easily carried 3000 logs and got rid of the loader up front. Learned to double skid 'stuff' real fast.

Pretty sweet little conversion. Hydronic top link makes your manual tilt a non issue. Don’t really have a need for this myself but could see how some of the smaller tractor owners or people looking to move pallets from the back would find this very helpful. Not really sure how you guys are picking up pallets on the 3ph with a carryall Or why that would be a better option then this. 2 completely different attachments if you ask me. I guess a carryalls frame kinda looks like forks lol

I picked up/ dropped off 1,000s of skids over the past 21 years using my homemade carryall and it's easy...
When you lift up ,it angles back towards the tractor just a bit and you only need a few inches of clearance to move here, there, everywhere.

When you need to swap out, it's just ONE implement not two that you're dealing with.

I agree HKB82. My post was not worded the way I meant it…I revised it. If something on a pallet, forks are the way to go and if too heavy for the loader the adapter on the 3pt is helpful. If just moving stuff, that is where I think carry all is helpful…but then i would also add if you have the forks/adapter you can then take a pallet put some sides on it and there you have your carryall. Just depends both have their pros/cons IMO.

I don’t own or haven’t built one but I can’t say I have ever seen a carryall that could pick up pallets also. Any pics of your home built one and how it’s able to pick up pallets and still be a carryall.

3pt forks are available from Agri-Supply for $3i9.95, I doubt that a "carry all" can be bought for less.
I have had a set for years, and leave them on my little 32HP Ford.
Very handy!
They are rated for 2,000 lbs. (the 3pt is rated for 2185 lbs., and they will easily lift that)

This is what I built, forklift forks slide on top of the top bar, get locked into the bottom. Have used on my Allis-Chalmers for 20 years. It's not 3PH, rather Snap-Coupler, far better system.

I like it jay and now kinda want to build something like this although I don’t have a need per say. The op was looking to use his already owned forks on his 3ph. I definitely would build my own if it were me looking to accomplish this but that’s not for everybody or possible for everyone. Im also alo/global quick connect but I think that titan adapter is pretty sweet for anybody not looking to fabricate their own. Cost wise well beats me if cheaper ones are available. Some times cheaper and tractors don’t mix well together.
thanks Greenvillejay for the pic.

I have that adaptor. It works good. I also have a hydraulic top link so I can adjust the angle. I use it for real heavy loads.

The posted adapter is $600, and you can get a 'carryall' for $250 or less, so it seemed an easy way to save a lot of coins. It also would allow to use BOTH front and rear 'fork units' to haul stuff at the same time.
Odds are good you'll need front end ballast to offset whatever you're carrying out back.

Can you post a link to a carry all that will allow him to pick up pallets from the back for 250 or less without fabrication? I get ones can be made to work but unless you have the extra forks and steel kicking around I hardly doubt your gonna make it for less the 600 all in. Not I’m my area at least.

quik googling...here's one...

ok, price is a little higher than last time I looked, but far less than $600 !
Usually they'll go on sale for $50 off, so before the $250 mark.

simple design, uses about 20' of 2.5 angle iron, any fab shop can make in about an hour.
