You will have to excuse some of the purists on here. Oil is oil, for the most part. Worst things that could happen is A) too thick to pump, or, B) So thin, you use it too fast. If B), go for it. Just keep your eye on the reservoir. You would be surprised how fast gas and oil break down when on the ground. No, I dont recommend or condone dumping oil in the ground, especially if you have a well, but, drippings from a chainsaw will not hurt anything, unless your cutting ungodly amounts of wood in the same spot. Just look at the beaches where tankers and off shore oil rigs leak. They recover after about a year for new life to form. Its the new life to form that takes the long part. Dont believe me? Do an experiment. Find a hidden patch of grass, pour some gas on it. It will grow weeds back before the year is up. Dont ask me how I know :rolleyes: . You cant grow weeds if the ground is polluted, hence, the gas biologically decomposed, same with oil.
