Use gasket sealant?

When installing the side transmission cover and new fluid level site glass on my L2950GST, should I use gasket sealant? It does not look like the WSM calls for it but there is a gray sealant present on the old gasket. I do not know if the side cover has ever been removed before.

Most gaskets are fine without any sealer on them but I do like to use one called HI Tach. It's a spray sealer.

I always use a little something. I dont/wont use blue RTV. Something more tacky and dark in color, my preference.
