I have an L3830 Grand series with HST and the LA513 loader. It's very lightly used (about 90 hours). I love the tractor but I wish I would have gone with a 45-50 HP model, or at least the larger FEL. I'd like more FEL capacity and I'd like to be able to use some of the neighbor's larger implements.
I spoke to the dealer last week and he recommended the MX5100 HST as an upgrade option. I'm ok with forgoing the rubber mat, tilt steering, and electronic dash that my Grand series has today. However, I was disappointed to see that the 3pt lift capacity is nearly 700 lbs less on the MX5100 than my L3830. Evidently the Grand series uses external pumps to gain the added capacity.
Now here's my question, is the 2300 lbs capacity on the MX5100 more than adequate or will I come to miss the added capacity? I use the tractor for cutting and clearing trails, planting food plots, and using the county planter for planting trees.
Second question, am I giving up a more rugged tractor in the Grand series by moving to a MX5100?
Thanks
