I found a military pack the old style on that gores on a pistol belt complete with ammo pouches and empty clips plus moldly and rotted clothes in it. It got stuck on my plow point while plowing up a food plot. Did not find any bones so all was good

I must admit the shovel gave me a bit of a surprise, it was hidden in tall grass, it weighs about 150lbs...
If the owner turns up I shall tell him I'm going to polish it for him...:D
Ike, that's a fascinating find with the plough, gets the imagination wondering how it got to be there.

Geoff, was that part of an advertising display? Is that the only item around it? Anyone there know the history of it?

A few years ago I was using the D2 to push up some rock the oil field guys had used for years as a drive to get to the tanks. They had moved the tanks to across the road.

As I pushed the rock into a pile, a friend watching began waving his arms.

When I had lowered the blade it landed on a 24" pipe wrench facing up with the jaw opened about 3". Enough for it to be on the bottom of the blade. It was actually grabbing onto the bottom.

It was pretty rusted up, but it was a Ridgid. I soaked it in diesel for a while, and still use it.

The chances of a pipe wrench laying for years with the jaws facing up, and open a particular distance, then a blade landing exactly in the jaws, staying on the blade and being noticed has got to be a kazillion to one.

Yes it was made by a company who suply ground tools, discarded a few years ago until I came across it.
With luck I will be it's new owner, I'm sure I will find an amusing use for it.:)

Over the years, I have found lots of neat old stuff. Antique bottles, draft-horse shoes, mortars & pestles and arrowheads. Never found anything like a giant shovel, though! :D

As I was messing around in the pasture I hit something hard, turns out it was a metal cap on about 6" diameter pipe. Curious so popped the cap off and there were wires, curiosity turned to caution. Did some research and turns out this area had seismic crews exploring years ago and it was a harmless test hole. I had no idea they left these things behind or maybe this is one they missed.

This wasnt something I found, but saw the tail end of it.

I was working at a new construction site for a housing development. Contractor was in the process of clearing the land, building roads and retention ponds for storm drainage. I was working on a piece of equipment, when a security team from a defense contractor whose property bordered the construction site stopped one of the contractors employees. They had a pretty good circus going on with the security, police and bomb squad :eek:

Come to find out the grounds used to be a proving and testing ground for the defense contractor. The employee found an un-exploded anti tank mine  Idiot loaded it into the back of his truck, drove 60 miles home for the night, showed it to his buddies, and still had it in his truck when he pulled back onto the property.

My Dad turned my garden one spring using a 2 bottom plow and lost his wallet when it slipped out of his pocket and under the dirt, didn't realize it until he got home that evening. Nothing major other than some photos that were near and dear to his heart.

1 1/2 years later I was side dressing my corn and something caught my eye in the row. Sure enough it was my Dad's wallet. I wrapped it up and gave it to him for fathers day that year, don't know why but zero damage, photos and cash perfectly fine.

Found these in the wooded section of our property. Used to be a farm. I'm assuming they're old supports for a porch of something.

BillK are you up around North Park some place, reason Im asking,,back inthe day my Ex and I use to do a lot of walking in the woods around and through the park , found an old cemetery I think the earliest dates were mid 1700's ,and what looked like some old home stead buildings, and I think I saw something like those. I may well be wrong but they may have been used to support the seal plates on old homes

No Skeets, we're in Harmony, Lancaster Twp. About 30 minutes north of North Park and about 10 minutes outside of Zelienople, just off I79 a couple miles.
