Still runs like a champ. Swapped out the factory compressor wheel for an 11 blade billet wheel. Spools lightening fast now :):)

what do you think about this turbo for a b7100?

it has a 1.75" inlet and 1.5" outlet on the comperssor.

i am adding the higher flow b8200 pump and want to add the turbo to get the hp to maximize the hydo pump.

have you considered injectors from a d950 engine or an intercooler?

do you have anymore gauge pods, or would you make another batch?

It's been a couple years now since you posted a thread about a turbo charged d950,.. Still waiting for specs on a turbo charged d950?..and the source for your information...
Iam not going anywhere,..until u post correct information.

I took a crack at adding a turbo to my B7100 using a TD04 13G. I've got everything complete but have run into an unexpected problem and I am hoping for some advice.

For Oil feed and return I used an oil filter sandwich plate which has 2 - 1/8" NPT outlets. The problem is that despite using check valves to control the direction of oil flow, the oil pressure is too high which is causing the turbo to leak. I believe the best way to resolve this is to route the turbo drain to a location without pressure. I know the @boosted7100 used the drain plug with a tee but i'm wondering if I really need something higher to minimize the back pressure.

@Boosted7100 - Do you have any check valves in place to prevent the oil pushing up from the drain plug to the turbo?

Yea No, the plate you used does not allow free flow on the out port side of the loop.
Putting an adapter into the drain plug would work fine as the crank case has no pressure on it, and you wouldn't need any sort of check valve.

You're only other real option would be to drill and tap a hole in the block, not a safe choice! ;)

The standard practice seems to be to drill and tap the side of the oil pan. This option doesn't have much promise because of space constraints. I guess I'm gonna tap the oil plug as boosted did.

I tried routing the drain to the oil plug and am still seeing the same issue although the leak isnt as bad. The turbo seals have been replaced so I dont believe that is causing the problem.

The only theory I have is that the oil pressure at the filter is simply too high. I am using a 4an oil restricter at the turbo but its still getting flooded with oil. I guess i've not other option but to try feeding the turbo from the oil pressure switch port.

Maybe something like a needle valve to control the flow rate with a gauge port to get a reading of how much pressure your getting? I'm guessing you dealing with a small diameter oil line to feed the turbo, you can get a globe valve as small as 1/8" IPS but would look hideous. I'm sorry I'm not really any help with answers where to feed and return the oil to....

The oil restrictor fitting at the turbo is a 1.5mm opening. I'm wondering if there is any break-in period on the new turbo seals

I let it run and spin the turbo a bit and the leaking started to slow. Google didn't find anything on a break-in period for new turbo seals. If I can't get the leak to stop I am going to have to look for some step gap seals for the turbo, from what I have seen so far they are obnoxiously expensive for what they are.

I think your adapter plate is feeding it unrestricted oil pressure, if you put a gauge on it it's probably way too high.
Decreasing port size does not reduce pressure, it only reduces flow rate. ;)

I think you are spot on. I've been reading on the topic of oil pressure at various points within an engine, oil pressure at the filter is typically 50-70 psi while at the head it is typically regulated at 7-15 psi. Long story short if I ditch the sandwich plate and run the oil feed from the oil pressure switch my problem should be solved. To that end, the oil pressure switch appears to be 1/8" NPT however I have noticed it doesn't snug as pipe thread should which makes me think it isn't 1/8 NPT but something very close.

The pipe threads on the older Kubota tractors are British taper pipe threads BSPT. US 1/8 NTP are 27 threads/inch and British are 28. Also, the angel of the thread is 55 deg vs 60 deg for NPT. One will not seal in the other.

I've finally got around to testing the b7100 turbo. I ran it fairly hard for about 30 minutes, mowing thick grass uphill wide open. . Max EGT is under 500 measured at the manifold pre-turbo. From the article above the low egt would seem to suggest I need to add more fuel?
