Re: Trying to decide

L3301/L3309 is the 3309 worth the extra money and why
did you mean the 3301 and the 3901? ( I see you edited your post;))

looking at the specs ....the 39 has about 5+ more HP ....

what is the bottom dollar line between them ? a few grand or several grand?

going on a swag........I would say if I could get the larger for .......2k more, I would consider it.....way more than that, I would spend that money on attachments........

then again if you are financing it at 0% percent.....over 5 years, might be around 25 bucks more per month @ 2k more.

Doesn't the L3901DT have a dual stage clutch and the L3301DT has a single stage? I would think if you are going to use a PTO driven tiller that the dual stage would be nice to have, you can start the tiller going before you start moving forward. I don't know how the HSTs are setup.

PTO horse power difference is big % wise. But while the 3301 will pull the same load as the 3901, it will not pull it as fast. If you need to get things done, get the 3901. I believe that the PTO is also set up differently from one to the other, I know that the earlier models were for sure.

For only $1800 difference, I wouldn't even be considering the 3301 for myself.

Good luck with you decision. ;)

I just bought a 3901. It was only $1500 for the upgrade from 3301 once I saw that I didn't even consider the 3301 anymore. Frame is exactly the same only differences are the clutch and hp. Haven't gotten it yet so can't give any details yet but it'll be delivered Friday. Good luck

85Hokie, this isn't always true, is it? "Extra horses is always something you want after you really needed them and dont have !"

I've got two in the back yard that just seem to be portable yard ornaments.
