My old B1550 has over 6,000 hours on it now, and the hydra-trans has some squawk, especially in H range.

Has anyone found any particular oil that quietens it down better than other oils?
Thanks.

Quite a few references in different threads on OEM UDT and SUDT being less noisy than compatible oils, but also others that say the aftermarket UDT spec oils work just as well. I think it's a case of what works in your particular machine. If you are going to change it out, I'd say give the OEM a go and see what happens, then next time try the aftermarket! I'm close to putting UDT in mine, but also have some Mobil 424 on the shelf!

I used the genuine stuff last time, but 2 things annoyed me.
Firstly, the 20 litre drum it cam in, despite being not damaged at all, leaked through the bottom seam. I had to store it upside down.
Secondly, the stuff was clear, which made it almost impossible to see on the dipstick, especially in the sunlight.
I wondered if there was an option of a coloured oil, which is as good or better.
I use Agri MP Plus in the rest of the tractor, and it is supposed to be OK for the hydrostatic drive too, but would need to hear from someone who has used it before I would try it.
