I have a L4400HST that I purchased used (560 hours) with the service records. The TF was changed with 400 hours, at the dealer, as per the manual. It's getting time to change it again and the problem I have is the L4400 Operator's Manual I received from the previous owner and the one I printed online does not even mention the HST.

It shows 4 drain bolts, one filter and 40L of fluid. I have two filters and I am wondering if there are additional drain bolts.

Does anyone know if there are more than four drain bolts due to the HST and will the capacity of 40L be accurate with the HST? Also, if anyone knows how to find the manual for the HST model that would be appreciated, I have searched.

I changed the transmission/hydraulic fluid in my L3010 HST last spring. There are 4 drain bolt, 2 under the center, and 1 for each rear wheel. I kept them all open until all fluid had drained out. I purchased 2 - 5 gallon pails of fluid and had a quart or two left over when done. It was still cheaper than buy 50 quarts of fluid - it is not cheap.

Use only the fluid from the dealer. The previous owner of my tractor has used some other fluid and it rotted my hoses so I had to replace nearly every one of them.

There are filters on each side of the tractor you may want to replace at the time of your fluid change. The filter on the left side is difficult to remove as it installed very tightly on purpose. You will notice notches at the base of filer. Use a hammer and a punch (I used an air tool) on the notches to loosen the filter. It will mostly likely not come off with just a filter wrench. I destroyed a wrench before realizing the notches were on the filter.
