trans temps after several hours - L235dt

I have a 85 L235 4x4 fel. I mowed some pastures today and my trans got really hot, it is full of fluid , maybe a hair over filled cause this machine has the sight glass instead of a dip stick.

This tractor is new to me and may be this is normal. I did notice that toward the end of the day my hydrolics got really sluggish, in fact I could hardly pick up the 5 ft bush hog. The case got to hot to touch. It was about 95 out today and I had run it for several hours at 2k rpms

is this normal ?

where is the strainer located on the L235 ?

I also have a leaky 2 lever valve on the loader - I am ordering a new one (single lvr) from northern tool.

Is the L235 a open or closed valve set up ?
