The last time I changed my transmission fluid was 10/14/17 so its been 4 yrs six months. I've put on a whopping 183 hrs in that time. So I changed it yesterday trans filter and the yellow hydrolic filter. The trans filter has a magnetic ring in it and it had alot of junk on it. Small machine turnings/shavings and wire brush crimped wires. I use crimped wire brushes all the time so I'm sure there were thoses on there too.
The magnet did its job but apparently during the assembly crap gets left in the housings.

I'm confused on the crimped wires, what do you wire brush in the hydrualic system? You might consider changing just the filter say in 50 -60 hours and topping the fluid off to see if you're still getting metal pieces.

As much as they try to clean the insides ............ there will always be more shavings coming out, thus the magnetic filter ring. Better to be caught there than still floating around.
