Personally, I would pay the $75 trip charge for the tech. With the stipulation that they warranty and replace the pan.

I know your looking for a trailer, but in the mean time you can call the local rental companies to see who they use for a hot shot service. Or contact a towing company and see what they would charge to come out with a roll back. If the dealer wanted to charge me $300 to haul my tractor 35 miles then I would tell them to pound sand. $100 is reasonable for that distance figuring in around $2.50 per mile for the truck. Usually with a towing company or hot shot service you pay from pick up to drop off, not both directions ;)

Thanks for the tip. I'll follow up with the local towing companies to see what they would charge. I have 2 kubota dealers to choose from to commit for service in the future, both approximately 50 miles away, so I guess the quote is close.

I'll pay for the tech, but my rep told me when he calls me Monday, it's his call on how to decide to fix it. Either tap it, or bring the pan out. You'd think to bring the pan out to rule out any nonsense. I would prefer a new pan.

Some good news, I got the bolt I needed this afternoon, with the seal washers, so I'll try and clean up the hole and just screw it in to see if it holds first thing in the morning. I'm going to use a loupe to get a close look at the grooves and try to photograph it for the forum. My last shot wasn't clear enough.

If I meet resistance I won't force it.

If you pay for the tech to come out, be very clear, that if he decides that you need the pan replaced, and he didn't bring it with him, that you will not be paying for a second trip. That's between him and his boss if he neglects to bring it with him the first time :D

An even better tip! Thank you!

I would not do this. Let them fix it. Don't give them any reason/excuses...just have them bring everything they need to get it fixed correctly.

As Daren said, make sure they understand you're paying for one trip. If they can't get it in one trip, they come back or haul it in on their dime!

I would talk to someone in the shop to be sure you have two people who heard you say, after the first try it's on them.

OK. I'll wait. Makes sense. I'm just wanting to use the tractor's forks to help me move 4 tons of pellets I'm having delivered and get it in the basement before it rains. I guess I need the exercise anyways...
