Trailer for BX2680

I am in search for a trailer to haul my bx2680 with FEL as well a quick hitch. I currently have a F150. I have spoken with couple different trailer companies and I have gotten different recommendations.

My dealer delivered on an aluminum SA 12' trailer. When I spoke with trailer company only 1 said you could get away with using a SA. The rest recommenced TA.

Just curious what others use or recommend. Thanks

I have an 18’ tandem axle 7,000 lb car hauler trailer to haul my BX24. It has brakes on both axles. Most single axle trailers are only rated 2,990 lbs and don’t have brakes. You’re BX with loader weighs around 2,000-2,200 lbs which including the trailer weight is likely above the 2,990 gross weight rating of the trailer. Spending a little more on a better trailer will give you the piece of mind of safer travel and a longer trailer will allow you to carry rear attachments on your tractor.

yeah,, the 'magical' 2990 #. Even though the trailers use 3500# running gear, the mfrs 'derate' the trailers to NOT have to put brakes on them, battery backup, etc. There's a seller up here with TANDEM axle trailers....2990# !

Get a 16' 'car hauler', preferably with brakes on BOTH axles AND backup lights.

I'd go with a 6.5 or 7x14 or 7x16 tandem axle. You can look at GVWR to see what the trailer is rated for, subtract the weight of the trailer (1000-1500 lbs) and you'll know how much payload it can handle. You might find a single axle with a 5000lb axle, but more common are the 3k and 3500 lb axles, which will you put right at the weight limit.

I would go with a 6.4 x 16. I like tandem axles if for no other reason you have a chance to save it and get off the road if a tire blows out. If you ever decide to sell it, a 16ft trailer is easy to get rid of.

I think a little "overkill" is always a good idea when trailering your tractor.

I would be looking at something in the 18'-20' range, tandem axle, tandem brakes, and aluminum construction if you can afford it.

all good suggestions above, and I also agree. Get a tandem with brakes which should put you in the 16 foot range. You'll need the extra length once you start adding rear implements/attachments.

Your next decision will be open car deck vs landscape trailer type (with low sides). Think about what you may want to haul with that trailer in addition to your tractor.

If I had to do it over again (which I may) I'd be looking for a 7-9K 18' open car hauler in aluminum frame/wood deck with side pockets.

Having an open deck leaves it open to load things from the side. Removable side boards give the option of hauling loose materials. I have hauled 5,000 pounds (2-1/2 yards) of topsoil on my trailer and unloaded it with the BX.

That's exactly what I was getting at...I have 2 foot mesh sides on my landscape trailer and have to use my open deck atv trailer to get wood pellets on pallets since my local distributor can't swing load them. Removable sides would correct that issue.

Just picked up a used BX 2680,when I loaded on my all aluminum trailer 6.5'x12' tires seemed to squat a bit.

Trailer is 2990#,I will be close to maxed out with tractor-cab,mower,loader.I also have a split deck 14000 ib trailer, but aluminum trailer is so much easier to get around with.I am going to see about putting 15" radials on it, not sure how much it would help.

check the load rating on the tires ! Not all 15" ones are rated for 1750# !
it's another 'cheat' that the 2990 group do ..

Do not forget to check the weight rating of the rims. When I bought my Big Tex the wheels would not hold weight that the tires could hold. And the total weight was less then what the trailer was rated for.

Not sure how far or how often you'll be hauling your tractor, but just to throw this out there, I hauled my BX2380 with fel and 60"mmm home on a 7x14 sa trailer pulled buy a Toyota Tacoma. Approx 50 miles, mostly highway, no problem at all. Was it ideal? Maybe not, but its what I had and the only time I plan on hauling it. Actually hauled pretty well.

get trailer brakes ! Pulling is never the problem STOPPING is. A properly loaded trailer,even maxed out( 10-15% tongue weight) can be pulled.OK you won't do zero to 60 in 5 seconds, but very doable. You do NOT need 1000HP and 4WD. You do NEED stopping ability and that's what trailer brakes are for.

up here, he'd have to have brake setup with battery backed breakaway system.
These days I assume most (all ?) PUs are prewired for controllers,my '97 F150 does.'legally' any trailer over the magical 2990 HAS to have brakes.....up here.
