Where did you get that? He said 1 1/4 shank ball, that not a 1" ball.

Dang Wolfman, your a great source of info and charts. I'm going to forward this to a buddy that always used to tow his off road toy with a crappy ball, and a good trailer. I talked him into getting a stabilizer set up, up graded the ball and got 10K set of 4 locking ratchet straps. The NEXT trip out, his wife was pulling the trailer behind a 4x4 3/4 ton Suburban, and he was following in his big truck towing a 30' toy box. No idea what she did, but he saw the burb and trailer spinning out of control in his mirrors. She smacked a concrete block wall at speed in the spin. everything was severely damaged. Suburban, Trailer, and off road car....BUT it all stayed together, did not loose anything and did not roll over! The cops were amazed it didn't flip as the trailer pretzled the sway bars, and twisted the tongue of the trailer, de-rimmed two tires on the trailer and one on the burb. He will Never tow with out a great setup , ( wont let wifey tow anymore either!) he got a better trailer, better tires etc.......... I've never lost a load, or had a towing wreck, but with good equipment, you can help yourself by being safe. ...... ok, i'm off my soapbox now. Ill look for some pics of the wreck, its eye opening!

Don't go cheap on your trailer! Buy a good used tandem if you have to!

I needed to get my tractor down for service. My buddy loaned me his sweet tilt-bed trailer he bought from a rental company going out of business. At 45mph, it was a load for my 4Runner but we made it the 13.5mi to the service department. Upon arrival, the service manager told me I was using a trailer far in excess of its capacity. Remember the gross weight means the weight of the item you are hauling AND the weight of the trailer!

He got it for $500 and it was great for his little J.D. In fact, this same friend hauled my tractor down from where I bought it to my place for me, about 90mi. Only problem is, my tractor is about 1500lbs over gross for that single axle. And, when I bought my tractor, it had an 800lb roto-tiller on the back! No wonder the tires were hot when we got home! Great trailer. Good size. Just not up to the task. With that experience, I would never buy a single axle trailer myself. What if you upgrade to a larger tractor someday?

Never say never.
Has anyone ever hauled their BX in a pickup truck? I have a 3/4 ton that has plenty of payload capacity. Issue is that the FEL would have to hang out over the tailgate. Could remove bucket for less weight overhang. Thoughts? Experience? Could rent a trailer, but if I just needed to rent ramps, that would be less expensive.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Those ramps would have to be pretty long......Do yourself a big favor and pick up a dual axle trailer
