Need a smaller lawn care tractor. Have a 2017 low hour(80) B2601 TLMMMBH and have been offered a new BX1880 with quick attach frt loader, mmm, ballast box and 50hr. Service parts as even trade. What are folks seeing 1880s going for in their areas? Have no idea what my rig is worth. Thanks all.

I would want some money with the BX trade. Your B is worth more, especially with the backhoe.

Used Kubotas are selling for just about what equivalent new ones sell for. I agree with the above posts, Your B is worth a lot more than a BX.

Agree. With only 80 hours you should get pretty much what you paid for it, minus maybe the tax.

A lot of dealers around here have rentals they sell when they hit 50 hours and they want the same price as new. And that was pre-covid gouging times.

You have to realize that the dealer is going to resell your original tractor, and will want to make a profit on the transaction. If you want to downsize, I suggest that you sell your original tractor on the open market, and you will recover most, if not all of your original purchase price. Who knows, you might even make a profit on the sale, depending on how well you advertise it and the buyers that come to purchase it. One thing that you have to consider is how many people have the cash to buy your tractor outright. I would go to the Kubota dealership and see what price you can purchase the BX tractor for, and take advantage of their 5 years 0% financing. You will have to pay a premium for the BX since they are in short supply, but you will still be dollars ahead selling your tractor on your own.

Why not buy a dedicated Ride on mower, and enjoy the tractor for what it does well.
you can get a nice new ride on for under $2K

I like the advice you are getting here. When I was shopping, I wanted to get a tractor that could be my mower too. The one engine fantasy! I achieved it once, years ago. Here, my property is too steep and irregular and with tiny AND large areas of grass. So I kept my rider and got a B2601 instead of a BX.

does the '80 HAVE a MMM ? No way a BX18 loader can do the job of a B26, 18 horses instead of 26, that's a LOT of lost ponies !!!!
'smaller lawn care' ? what size lawn, what chores?
I agree 'downsizing' at a dealer means HE makes a HUGE profit from you

I had the same one engine, one machine dream on my hilly property…
…and ended up buying a ZTR and a larger tractor.

There is no way Ill get close to 30 grand for it. The folks who have asked say they would rather get new, full warranty and zero interest. Have had some ask for the mower deck or backhoe if I want to separate it out.
I can understand there points. At 10 grand I’d probably sell it now, 19 grand, crickets. Trade in is easier than
selling outright. Going to look at a BX 1880 today. I have .9 acres now down from 16 when I bought the B2601 rig.

I have owned a BX22 with a mowing deck and learned after 15 years that it was just not a good grass-cutting machine. I had to remove the loader and the backhoe to mow, and remove the mowing deck if I wanted to do work with the loader and backhoe. I finally purchased a ZTR for cutting the grass, and when I upgraded from the BX22 to a BX23S, I didn't get a mowing deck even though it is a lot easier today to remove the backhoe and loader than it was with the BX22.
I wouldn't consider selling the backhoe from your present tractor, but I would suggest that you sell the mowing deck, and put that money toward a ZTR for grass cutting. I would keep the present Kubota for digging and loader capabilities that the BX23S is sadly lacking. For me the B was overkill and the BX is just a little short sometimes. If I need a larger machine, I have a friend that will bring his bigger machine over to lend a hand. I see my BX23S with its factory cab more as a snow-moving machine than anything else. It is small enough to get around the property and large enough to handle 99% of the snowstorms that we get. For that 1% of the blizzards that I can't open the road to our home, the neighbor that has a truck-mounted snowplow will make a pass to open the road, and then I can handle the rest.
If you have 30K invested in the B and you believe that it is only worth 10K then keeping it makes even more sense than investing $23,000 in a machine that can't do 75% of what the present machine can do. Spend $3000 on a ZTR, and if you get $1000 for the mowing deck, it will only cost you $2000 to have the best of both worlds.

I'm against this trade.

B2601 IMO would sell quick at 25K , I believe I'm on very low end of value for quick sale.
On the fence about trade will look at BX and see if it’s what I want. Last BX I looked at (2380) had a roll on issue that was dangerous. Inventory much improved since then.

I wish. This may be true in covid fantasy land. 4 months ago I sold a 9-month-old B2601 (was not TLB), 250 hours w/ 3rd function, dual rear valves. Was offered 60% of its purchase price from 3 different dealers, and had a very difficult time selling it privately at about a 30% loss. A used B2601 will land squarely in low to mid teens, im not sure what premium the TLB will bring.

OP is competing against dealers. People will pay more when they can finance, get a warranty and can buy KTAC. Selling my B2601 was not a pleasant experience. Many tire kickers who needed an education and had no idea what they wanted or needed. One guy didn't even own property. Many were shopping at price point, didnt care what color the machine was. You are also competing against the brand new budget tractors as well which you can buy new for the price of a used Kubota.

just sharing my experience, ymmv...

EVERY tractor, TLB, dozer, car, truck, plane ,etc. has a 'roll issue that can be dangerous'........
even us lowly humans....

I don’t know your situation…Only thing I would offer is not to confuse your asset with an expense. Your B is most likely appreciating in value. Lawn mowers do not appreciate. What’s it worth…depends. It’s worth what someone will pay for the it. Turning radias really is not that much

…Different from a b to a Bx…so really you are only losing capability. Not sure what the gain would be.

Sorry, what is a roll on issue? Does that mean the brakes allow creep? Or that it is prone to rollover?
