My Dad put the new battery for our Kubota L2250 in backwards. It cause a lot of sparks. Once it was place in correctly the tractor wouldn't start. We checked the alternator, starter, ignition wiring, checked the fuses that we could find. Nothing seems to work. Turn the key and theres nothing. Any thoughts on what we might check?

Was it lighting up before the battery swap? I would check the cables. If they are soldered kind it could have melted where it connects to the ground or starter. Have you verified power to the ignition switch, meter will show voltage, test light will tell if you have good current by how bright it gets. If no power at switch, then start verifying power working your way back to the starter and then to battery. If you have quick connects in there between the starter and switch then i would check theose first. My dad has a l2250 and has had lots of issues with corrosion in the pin connectors. Good luck:cool:

Actually should have asked for more detail? Is there power to every thing but starter wont engage? Or no power leaving the key switch?

The heavy cable goes from the battery to the starter. What happens is when you put the battery in backwards the diodes in the alternator are all wrong, and route really high current from the battery to the alternator. You may have blown the wiring from the alternator back to the battery. It may go through the ignition switch. When did you get the sparks? Immediately on touching the battery leads, when you turned on the switch, or when you tried to engage the starter?
