Tractor Size Advice

I have an L3130, looking to add a larger unit. I have looked at the L5060 & L6060. I want to be able to pull at least a 6' bush hog or 7' finishing mower and possibly a 4X4 baler. Any recommendations?

I'd buy the implement and give the L3130 a shot at it. I would not hesitate to put a 72" bush hog on my L3200.

I had no problems using a Land Pride RCR2672 with my L5030 HSTC. I now have an L5740 HSTC and really can't tell any difference, both had more than enough power.

I have no experience with a baler.

I use to have a 2007 MX5000 4x4 with R-4 tires and had no problem pulling a heavy duty 6 ft rotary cutter or an 84 inch maschio finish mower. 44 pto hp.

To run the 4x4 baler I would go with a m7040 or new m7060.

Unclear what the 4x4 baler you mention actually is: a small round or large square baler. Local nomenclature varies nationwide I've found.

However, your L3130 should easily operate a 6-ft shredder aka brush-hog. But as in using any shredder the terrain (ground speed), expected quality, and material being cut (lawn, pasture, undergrowth, brush, saplings, rocks, stumps) make all the difference.

My L3800 pulls a 6 foot rotary mower just fine, not sure what the baler would require? I'd be looking at a L4600DT or MX5100DT.

First thing to do is to find out what the HP requirement is for the round baler. Then find out how heavy it is and how heavy of a bale it makes. You want a tractor that is going to have enough power and weigh at least as much as the combined weight of the baler and a full bale in it so you are not being shoved around by it. Most of the tractors people are suggesting in the L series are probably way to small for what you want to do. Particularly if you bale on any type of a hill.

I would not be as concerned about the bushhog or the finish mower. The baler will be the biggest load so if you know what baler your going to use match the tractor to that.

I agree with Gundoctor though, the M7040 or 7060 would be a good starting point. Depending on the baler requirements you may have to step up to a 90+ hp tractor. If I remember right my baler requires 70 or 75 PTO hp. I know in good hay it gives my M9000 a healthy workout. You don't want to be underpowered pulling a baler and you need to have a tractor heavy enough to handle the baler safely in all conditions.

I have a kubota l3130 with 3500 hours on it and it still run good bale hay with it and lift 1200 puns round bales with it I have 3 remote valves and I run a kubota disc mower with it it also runs a 7 foot king cutter mower fine in high brush

I can see no problem with the mower and lifting round bales. What size disc mower and baler do you use. I would have never thought about a tractor that size having enough power or weight to handle those jobs.

Just to add something about bush hog requirements. I can see some of the 30-40 hp tractors running a medium duty 6' mower in weeds and light brush. I have an M5140 w/6' LandPride cutter and have no problem having enough power to get through most everything (weeds/brush) with the exception of tall Argentine bahia grass. Even when gearing down it still builds up clumps of grass and can bog the tractor down to a stall. The back of the mower can be raised to a point that helps the movement of the material out of the mower. The front of the mower is set 1"-2" lower than the back. I don't like the design of the mower because there's not enough of an opening in the back to get rid of grass quickly. I guess my point is that if you don't cut super heavy grass you should be fine with either choice.
