I need a little assistance running diagnostics. My tractor died while mowing. When trying to re start, battery lights on, but engine will not turn over. Does anyone have an idea on what to check? Safety switch ? etc.....

Tractor model may be helpful.
Any noises when it quit and also any sounds when trying to restart would be helpful.
The more information you can give, the quicker a solution to your problem.

What is the tractor? The L2550 listed in your equipment? How many hours, and what's its maintenance history?

What did it do when it died? Smoke? If it smoked, what color?

Bog down for a while or just quit real quick?

My first thought is dynamo or alternator, but really just guessing. Not sure what an L2550 has in it. Might check to see if spin free, belt tight, wires connected, etc.

Make sure all battery connections clean and tight, both hot and ground and also at the battery and frame, etc..

Check the 5 amp key stop fuse. It went out once on my tractor and it died until I replaced it. Don't know what caused it to blow but it hasn't since and it's been a couple years now.

Good luck.

Key on with engine not running, battery light being on should be normal. Sounds to me like a safety switch issue. If one is bad or out of adjustment it won't turn over. Since you said it died while mowing, I would start with the seat switch if it has one.
