I am thinking about building a small walking beam dump trailer to tow behind my BX25. Would appreciate any ideas as to workable size and weight. Also wondering if any members are running trailer dump hydraulics off the BX25?

I'm going through the same process myself. I have rear remotes but don't know how they would work with a single acting ram.

I had similar thoughts. I think you'd be better off with a self contained trailer... battery and a small hydraulic pump. Would make it more flexible too...could use it with the tractor and vehicles.

In the end I just bought an RTV 900 with a hydraulic dump bed on auction...now I just need to figure out how to fix it's HST.

Check your owner's manual for max recommended towing weight. Size is up to you depending on your needs.

If I was going to use the rear remotes for dump, I'd just go with a double acting cylinder, then there won't be a problem. As others have said, a self contained unit might be more practical if you have other tow vehicles, or might want to raise the unit when it is not connected to the tractor.

One little piece of advice if I may,,, Remember towing them is not really the issue, cause that BX is a beast for its size, the big point is stopping the trailer. Yeah I know I wont fill it to heavy and so on and so on, but it happens sometime with out even thinking about it its overloaded.
You dont have enough weight or traction to stop if you have a heavy load. So while the trailer sounds like a super build just remember ya gota stop it too, just MHO you understand

Pay careful attention to what Skeets said ......^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

the BX will move a mountain, little by little - stopping it while rolling .....that takes time and gravity is your friend.....go down hill the slightest, both become short and you'll see the result in your shorts!!!!!!!:D;)

Single acting cylinders are fine to use with remotes, to an extent, on a little BX, one issue with a single acting cylinder is the size of the cylinder and the amount of fluid that it takes to raise it, you might run into an issue of not enough reserve hydraulic fluid to be able to raise it up without cavitating the system. ;)

Thanks to everyone who has commented. I don't see anything in my manual about towing weight but at 1.5 to 2 times vehicle weight the BX should handle 3000+ lbs or a 1 1/2 yds of gravel.
Particularly appreciate the advice on stopping.
