top linkage connection point

Hi

Not sure what it's meant to be called but it sticks out from the tractor and the top link fits between the holes in the steel plates so I'm calling it a that.

My L1500DT came with a top linkage connection point that sticks out about a foot from the back of the tractor. I've been told that's not normal and usually it's just long enough to allow the top link to be pinned in place. I believe this long connection point has something to do with the rotary hoe and I was given an extension that fits with a normal connection point. But I wasn't given the short connection point. Do people normally get these made at a local engineering shop or get the original part number. If so does anyone know the part number?

Cheers

OK, I think I've found the part number but I'd like a confirmation of anyone can as my PDF parts list for the L175 isn't really clear with it's arrows. The part number I found is 99511-22140 Holder Top Link.

Thanks

Hi Monte,

That seems to be a good part number. I found it and it was listed that it could be ordered so I would say that you have found what you need. The prise on the one I found was $61.58.

Hope this helps. :D

Thanks Bulldog and Vic

Vic that is exactly what I have.

It really helped to have a clear picture of what the short ones look like. Looking at it I think the quickest/cheapest way for me to sort this is to unbolt them and take them to the local engineering shop to be cut down and have those holes drilled. As I mentioned above I was given the extension for the short brackets which has two pin holes on one end and one on the other and does what the current setup does for the rotary hoe.

Cheers and thanks

Ok, I've taken off the long brackets. Vic can you tell me what would happen if you just connected up that rotary hoe with a normal top link off short brackets? I don't have any real need to fold the rotary hoe up behind the tractor like that and if it just means it will rise and fall just like any other implement I think that would be fine. I don't have the short PTO shaft for it ayway so if it meant I could use the one I have for my slasher all the better. The reason I ask is this extension thing I was given doesn't really look like it would fit. On the side it indicates it is mean for other tractors (LI-... ) and other hoes (RL...) also. Although I would think it wouldn't be that hard to modify.

I would think the purpose of folding the implement up in close to the back of the tractor was to allow it to pick up a heavier piece and not make it so light in the frontend or maybe just so it would allow the implement to be lifted higher off the ground. I don't see why the normal hook up won't work for you. When these models first came on the market I say the availability of implements made for a subcompact tractor were very limited and this was just a way to lift up something that it wouldn't have the capability to do in the normal way.

This is just a guess on my part, I'm sure that Vic will be able to shed more light on this for you.

Vic,

I went back and took a second look at that top link bracket in your pics. It looks just as good as a new one does so if that's your work I will say nice job and if you had it done by someone else then I'll say you should keep their number because they do nice work.

It looks like all the edges were nice and round and going by the paint job it wasn't left all buggered up from being cut off.

The big question, Is that your tractor in those pics?
It looks like that is a very clean ride and somebody took a lot of time fixing that one up.

Hey Vic

Are you saying don't use the PTO drive shaft that came with the tiller if I use the short brackets and long toplink? I don't actually have the original and was planning on either geting a new one or seeing if the one I have for my slasher will fit.

As for the weight I can't see how the rotary hoe would be any heavier than my 3.5 foot slasher. Also if the total length of the short bracket plus long top link equals the long bracket plus short toplink I would have thought there would be the same load on the hydraulics.

I was going to cut the long ones down but then I thought for the cost of a couple of bits of angle I could have the long one there if I couldn't get the rotary hoe to work with short brackets.

Cheers
