I have a 5 ft Bush Hog and L355ss. When the top link is connected to the bush hog side ( to the floating connector) the is a little side to side movement of the top link at the connection. Should there be bushings added, washers etc, on each side at the ball end of the top link or is that how it should be.

typically the female top link goes inside the U-shaped bracket with very little slop, on occasion, I have seen people have to grind the face to make it go in.
There should be very little movement at the top.

There is about 3/8 inch play on each side of the connector ball where it attaches to the bush hog. It connects perfectly on the tractor bracket.

Using a bearing or washers on each side of the connector ball would be okay ?

Mondo you ask, "Using a bearing or washers on each side of the connector ball would be okay ?"

It would be fine, but not really necessary. 3/8" slop will not cause additional wear or grief on your mower to top link, or your tractor. Just create more iron you have to keep track of, and not drop!

I like that opinion and will go with it. Less you have to worry about is great.

Thanks
