There are two brackets in the rear under the cab, one covered by the SMV, but the other looks like there is room. I need some ideas for a tool box.

I think Paul Short did one in one of his videos if that helps. If you have a BH on though if I remember correctly, it won’t fit. I move my BH seat to the alternate mounting holes to give me more leg room, so it’s even tighter access now at back of cab.

I’ll be following this thread though, toolbox 🧰 would be nice. Good luck.

Been toying with 3 inch od pvc pipe and cap to utilize this space for nylon straps and small hand tools.
opening is 3.5 inch, looking for test plugs online to make it even easier to open up.
just a thought. I put o rings on because mine is not completely round and it snigs it up nice for now

Are these the 2 mounts yoir referring to ? Looking at it theres 30 inches between fenders. Id think some square channel spacers can move things out of the way. 2 inches at the cab, again at the sign mount for 4 inches. Give room for small toolbox

So here is my thoughts. Its 28.250 outside to outside both mounts. Get 4 inch flat bar, cut to that length. Mount a 16.5 inch tractor box.
A few on Amazon. Wouldnt have to move anything else. Not sure about visibility loss though covering that area up.

As I sit here in my office/workshop I glanced over and saw the ammo cans my pew pews are stored in. I wonder of the 50 cal steel can would fit. I think I will empty it out and test fit it. Too heavy to try and figure out how it would mount with one hand and take measurements with the other if I leave it full. If that works, the lid seals water tight, and a couple fiber washers on the mounting bolts will keep water out too.

I'll let y'all know how it looks.

I think im trying my idea of using both brackets to attach a flat piece then attatch a piano hinge tractor box to it.

I’ve been thinking about that too but wanted a cap that doesn’t stick out. I thought about these but don’t know anyone to know how well they work in this type application. I spent all my wife’s money on machine and implements so I nickel and dime it on the end caps.

For the life of me I don’t understand why either the fenders, under hood, or under seat is not developed with space for tool storage in mind. For that matter I don’t understand why lights are at perfect location to be blocked by a machine that is more useful with a loader / bucket attached.

You got me there(and I know we’ll enough base on your posts and machine/add on/implement selection you have to be kidding…thank you we all need a laugh)….but seriously Even a trap door in the deck or something…I understand that water, crud and shit run down hill but I believe the engineers at orange are capable to design a bin under some portion of cover that can keep crud out. I think it reasonable for the OEM to consider that most customer want to carry a couple tools.

After looking it over, the tie in between brackets will do the trick. Now to go get an ammo can. I LOL at myself yesterday when I started looking for my battery can, which is an old army 50 cal can and discovered I have 5 cans of ammo, I forgot I had one full of .223 and 9mm under my work bench.

Hard to get Ammo right now actually. I have 4" flat mild steel but its 1/4" thick. May go see if can get a Aluminum bar locally. more weight for tools this way.
I have several here too from Ammo but too short for my taste. I think that tractor box will work well for pliers and rolled up set of wrenches. The FEL idea is for tow straps and Hitch pins for what ill be doing.
Have you guys ever seen the Pats quick hitch just for the lower arms ? PAT'S QUICK HITCH (patsquickhitches.com) Installing mine Friday along with rest of stuff. Look easier than the other type but you still hook up top link manually. The way ours slide in and out I think PTO shafts wont need swapped either. Friend with a JD complained after buying his full quick hitch that all his rotary cutters were to short if he used it. He swaps it out for box blades back blades etc.. then removes for Wood chipper and finish mower.
Good luck with yours

Last week I saw a huge stack of ammo cans at TSC and Harbor Freight.

So i got the plugs today. They do not fit, advertised as 3.5 inches. Actual 3 .625 inches in od.
Moved on to getting ready for toolbox. Wound up moving windshield waser and SMV sign bracket out 1 inch using square tube. Could not find Aluminum flat like i wanted. Used heavier weldable stock i already had. 2nd pic is finished just waiting on toolbox now. Spacers kept access to filling the washer fluid up.
