Everyone has to make something to get a job done at some time or other... modified, adapted or from scratch.

I needed to pull a pencil style injector a while back and didn't want to spend $100 to pull one injector. I had a slide hammer I seldom used so I adapted that and made the end piece of of parts from my "bone pile".

It was a piece of stainless that I modified by grinding where the injector clamp need space to allow the end to fit up tight, welded a nut for the slide hammer, welded a washer on the end and ground to fit in the injector slot.

Not pretty, but I've used it a few times now and it still works.

Can you take a pic of it in use when you get the chance.

A/c clutch in my chevy was malfunctioning.threw a 3/4 bolt in lathe and drilled and tapped for 3/8" fine. Threw a nut on it and threaded on a/c compressor. Couple cranks on big nut and pulled up clutch til i had .020 and now it engages flawlessly.
One of many home built hokey tools.

I bought a cheap 12mm deep socket and ground it down so that I could get one of my glow plugs out without pulling the intake manifold off. While I had it out, plugged the hole with a paper towel and chamfered the corner on the intake manifold so that I can get a regular deep socket on it now.

Coach, here's a picture of it on the injector. The pencil injectors are held in by a clamp (and a couple of TIGHT seals).

Another thread showing modified wrench for removing glow plugs reminded me of wrenches I have altered over the years.
I have some more, but they're at my place in the mountains.

I built a press brake for bending brackets for stabilizers; I've got about $10 in it, and I've bent over 3000 brackets with it.

Hodge, it's not fair telling about it without pictures! You do nice work and I'd like to see it.
I'm not paying photobucket's outrageous fee, and my grandson is too young (2) to help me figure out another hosting site!
I can email you a photo, and you post it...

Whipped up some new copper jaw pads for the 4 jaw chuck this morning. I prefer thicker material, but this is what I had on hand.

Hodge, I could do that. But I'm not too sharp with this computer/phone stuff. I take pictures with my phone, then load them on my hard drive, then post them on the forum.

I can send them right from my phone to someone else, but I don't know how to post to the forum directly off my phone!

Maybe we need a thread on how to use technology!!:D

I built this to make a cage for my Polaris rzr and several other things. I built it from plans but modified it to use a longer stroke hydraulic cylinder so I can get a 100 degree bend in one stroke in 8 seconds. I have 1”, 1.5”, 1.75” tube dies. 1” pipe dies and .75”, 1”, and 1.5” square tube dies.
I don’t have any pictures of my cage right now but I built this cargo carrier for my sled

Needed a 12" extension boring bar holder, so I made this from some old ground stock I had in the stash. Nothing exceptional about the job, (cut to length, face & chamfer both ends, drill & ream .500 x 1.200 dp, drill & tap hole for 1/4-28 clamp screw, deburr) but the material made it challenging- Inconel 718.
It's probably been 15yrs since I worked with this stuff, and it was just as PITA as I remember, but a fun challenge. And I didn't have to buy any material.:)
