I am putting together a set of tools to keep in my barn for work on a couple of Kubota - a BX1800 and an L2550. As far as socket sets, would you focus on 3/8" or 1/2" metric sockets? Also, I believe that Kubotas are mostly metric. Is that correct. I really appreciate it!

Yes I believe metric. You can get by with a 3/8ths set of sockets, but for some stuff, like torquing the lugs, fel mounts etc. A 1/2" drive set would be better imo.

I think the tractor is all metric. Some implements (snowblower?) are SAE.
Largest I can think of on my BX2360 is the MMM blade bolt at 30mm.
3/8 drive metric will get you most of the way. Not bad to have a 1/2 drive breaker bar on hand....I just bought the single 30mm socket at Lowes for $6 or so. No need to have a full set that large.

I keep both a 3/8" & 1/2" socket set of both SAE & metric sockets locked in the barn. That way I am ready to work on anything.
One of the best tools I have is a Kobalt 1/2" impact wrench with a 3/8" adapter.

Machines are mostly bolts but... One thing you will need sooner or later is a set of JIS screwdrivers. Japanese machine = JIS screws, these are not Phillips. Screwdrivers and bits are made by Vessel tools, available online and eBay. The Snap On guys don't even know they exist. They do not wear out and cam out of the screws the way Phillips do. I have the original set I bought for about 10 years now. I use them every day on every Honda, Toyota, Nissan, etc.

Now that I found an interesting little tidbit I did not know. Esp. that part that Phillips bits were designed to cam out. Explains a lot.
