My luck, first thing I would do is bump the control stick and send it thru my bay window! lol
I have a Rohn tower like that, but the plan is to use it for its intended purpose....a tv antenna tower. 
The tower is hinged at the quick attach plate and rolls with no pressure. I'm sure there is a learning curve but the hinge make room for some error.

One would have to be reeeeeeaaaalllll careful with that - i take it there is a float on that machine?
What about snow guards on a metal roof?

With the way tv cable is going up in cost you might be installing that tower to hold an antenna. My cable and internet bill are considerably higher than my power bill.
yeah reminds me-- my car insurance is now higher than my homeowners insurance. car insurance just went WAY up, about $42 a month up. Ridiculous.
brilliant idea with the idler wheels.
they will come in handy to help protect the roof.
I can only imagine how gentle on the sticks you would need to be with so much leverage. Not for a rookie thats for sure.
