To gain weight that is....:D

Most folks I know put on the poundage over the holidays and then spend the rest of the year trying to take it off....

An American tradition, over indulgence in eating, starting with Thanksgiving and continuing through New Years.

In my situation that won't happen this year but my wife on the other hand is 'blossoming out' a bit. (glad she don't read this forum or I'd be sleeping with the tractors and the barn cats.

It's been the opposite for us this year. I have over indulged some this past week, but nothing like I usually do. But, my wife is on a pretty strict diet do to a medical issue. So, it's much easier to make enough for both of us, so I've been on her diet as well.

Now last year, I quit smoking. Between the anti depressant the doc put me on to help out with the anxiety and the constant munching, I put on between 30 and 40 lbs. So I've been working on losing that weight for months now. Another 10 lbs and I'll be back down to where I was before I quit smoking.

Daren, congrats on the dropping the nicotine habit. Got to be tough to do!

Wife is going to have a major surgery next month. The doctor, in the first interview, asked if she smoked. Her answer was, "no", and he said "good"! I asked him why he asked. He said if she had nicotine in her blood test he would postpone the surgery until he test indicated otherwise.

Wow, Flip....I’d be REALLY careful about saying anything about the better half on the internet...just sayin’....[emoji12]

When Daren and I met up, both of our gals were very careful with their menu selections, but I think all was good. My restaurant choice wasn’t great in that regard [emoji849], but we don’t have many choices....the gals were good sports....

It does change things when your bride is watching their diet.... and it’s usually for the better for us!

But don't forget to have a little fun and enjoy the Holidays. Remember, you can't eat a 2 oz cookie and gain a pound!

I smoke and have for years. Only bad habit I have and with my pending surgery I have orders from my surgeon that I must quit 30 days prior to because nicotine retards healing and I don't want an issue in as much as I'm losing my ascending colon and part of my liver too.

We all have our habits, good or bad.

I could quit tomorrow, no biggie.

Anything to get off the chemo. That stuff is miserable and creates many side effects, none that are good.

My wife knows she's getting large, not a bone of contention. After 33 years, I can overlook that.

My problem is I've lived my whole life like it's Thanksgiving day and after eating like that for many years it's taken it's toll on me now a lot older battling gout, high blood pressure, and high cholesterol I no longer eat like everyday's a holiday. :( Momma bear and I've got a lot lumpier and bumpier over the years but i'd probably do it all over again if I had the chance. :p

Myself I was a real pleasure to be around but don't ask my wife she lies. lol
Happy pills got me through it. Tried pretty much everything from patches to the gum, to lozenges. Then onto chantex. That gave me pretty good abdominal cramps. Doc says "Lets try welbutrin". That went well for a couple days. Then it put me into a rage  Mad as hell, ready to whoop anyone's butt, just cause they were breathing in the same room as me. How dare they breath!!! :p:p Plus i went from 2 pack a day to 4

Well that lead me to blowing up the doctors phone telling him "I don't care what y'all do!!!!! You gotta keep me employed and married!!!!".
He called in a 30 day prescription for Lexapro. 3rd day on it, I put down the cigarettes for good. Then found a new hobby, being a couch potato :p Hence the 40lb weight gain  Got off the Lexapro 3 months ago. Also got back my gumption to get up and do something. So now the weight is slowly coming back off :D

All of this smoking talk got me reminiscing.
Back in the early 1970s Mom caught me smoking. I was in Jr High school, probably 14 years old. She bought two packs of Camel non filters and drug me into the kitchen. She said if I smoked those two packs of cigarettes she would never pester me about smoking again. I started smoking and she left the room. About half way through the first pack I started breaking them in half and getting rid of the second pack. I can’t remember how far I got before I couldn’t go no further. My head starts spinning, up comes lunch. To this day I can not be around cigarettes 45 years later. :D

Thanks Mom. :)

Try that now a days someone’s going to jail! :D

I have vices - the Kubota being the most expensive one at the moment, but I am also a full blown sugar addict. I am young and active enough and have the genes to stay thin, but I'll have been switching from sweets to snacks like nuts instead. I also enjoy the occasional cigar, and the odd adult beverage.
