Getting of diesel smoke hanging in the garage for a long time having to keeps the door open in cold weather, problem solved.... I had my cousin weld a 1 1/2" male pipe thread onto the end of the mufflers removable tailpipe to make it parallel to the side of the FEL. I then screwed on a 1 1/2" elbow and attached a 1 1/2" PVC adapter to a length of 1 1/2" PVC pipe about 5 feet long and drilled a hole to pin it in loosely. With the extension pipe attached I start the tractor in the garage blowing the smoke outside, I pull out and remove the extension and adapter. It never gets hot enough to overheat the plastic. Plus because its threaded I can raise and lower the FEL and the extension moves up and down with it.

Ok, I can't help myself but it looks like a Kubota huffing away with a pipe!

I had the same issue but I simply got a flexible, high temp rubber exhaust hose to extract the exhaust outside under the shop door whenever I need Torino it inside. I plan to spruce it up a bit later by using a fan exhaust through the shop wall.

I would agree with Sean's take on this, A flexible hose would serve you much better. ;)

I need a picture to see how you get the exhaust out with the door closed.

When I first started reading your post, I imagined you running a pipe to a doggie door or something similar!

Don't you know diesel exhaust is an aphrodisiac? :D

You can always tell non-tractor friends that it's a snorkel.

Without the threaded extension welded on there isn't anything to attach the rubber hose on to and I can drive out of the garage with my setup attached...just an idea and it worked for me. Every tractor is a little bit different.

So is this problem solved by starting the tractor and getting it outside quickly?

I like the Rescue Squad or Fire House route. Heat rated hose fits over tailpipes and is always in a negative from exhaust fan on roof. Idle all day and never die of CO poisoning.

Simple solutions are usually the best. This looks like it does the job nicely.

I have seen the other end of the spectrum installed in a firehouse. It was an overhead duct system with a rubber slot facing down along the entire length. It allowed the fire truck exhaust pipe, which points up behind the cab, to slip into the duct. The duct was suspended in such a manner that it could swing left and right about a foot to accommodate most normal variances in where they park the truck. The exhaust fan turned on automatically any time a pressure variance was detected inside the duct, which is normal when an engine starts blowing exhaust into it. This system allowed the firemen to just crank up the engine and drive out without worrying about turning on or off an exhaust fan. Once the fire is out, they just back the truck into the bay and the exhaust pipe slips back into the duct. I suspect this system costs more than my house, but it sure kept the inside of the firehouse from smelling like diesel fumes!

I have a fleible garage hose, heat resistant. Works good when i use it. I always use it when running cars in shop. Changed my overhead door so i need to re install my hose port. Its a pvc cleanout and a threaded cap. Great for running air hose through door too
