Tire width

I have a L3901 with R1 tires on it and my question is I'm wondering if there are any wider tires available for these tractors mine came with 11.2x24 would really like to have at least 14.9" wide on the rear? I am curious if the tires and wheels for the L4701 would fit my tractor it's listed as 8.3x16 front and 14.9x24 rear.

You will need to find out the RC of the current tires and get a set that would match the RC ratio that you have now.

In other words you can not just randomly change tires or you will destroy the 4wd system.

Wolfman nailed it as usual. My thoughts were duals but Kubota doesn’t advise to guess it puts too much strain on the axle bearings. I have dual 11.2 on our old 8n and love it. Put around 400lbs on the 3pth and it will stand up most any place.

I know what you mean I wouldn't think the 14.9 width of the rear tire would change that ratio as long as the diameter (height) is the same as the 11.2 or am I thinking incorrectly here?

Check out this chart of tractor tire sizes. It looks like the side wall of the wider tire is also taller therefore you would need different front tires to keep the correct ratio.

I don't see the difference in your chart they appear to be the same height just a different width.

Ok I see it now I didn't understand the numbers the 85 stands for the height based on a percentage of the width.

According to Carlisle tire's website the 14.9 mounted diameter is about 6" bigger then the 11.2 tires

I guess I'll have to live with the 11.2 tires

I guess I could have explained the part about the 85 being a percentage of width. You could still look into different fronts too. The cost of new fronts is small compared to new rears.
