Just curious - anyone know or have an idea how much a new rear tire for a tractor like the L4600 would cost. Never thought about it until a contractor clearing some land mentioned how his operator was pushing over a tree and lifted the rear of the large machine up off the ground, when he released his grip and the back of the tractor came down, one of the tires landed on a small almost ground level stump punctured the tire, which he said cost $1750 to replace. Got me thinking how much does a tire for a L4600 cost ?

Thanks

Dan

This is a good guestimate:
The R1 Ag tire 14.9-24 $300 - $450
The R4 Id tire 17.5L-24 $750 - $900

Then about $75 to $150 to mount.
and $20 to $150 for tire disposal fee.

Thank you very much - guestimate is all I needed - my first tractor and learning new stuff all the time.

Thanks

Dan, you didn't say how badly the tire was damaged. In some cases, a tire guy can put a "boot" in the tire. It may also require a tube. I have had good long term results with this. Of course the amount of damage determines the likelihood of this working.

Oh my tires has not been damaged yet - I happen to have an excavator on site for some major land clearing and he shared one of his experiences regarding the tip of a 2 inch stump, at a different site. Kinda warning me to be careful of any stumps.

He said his operator had lifted the rear of the machine while trying to push over/out a larger tree. the operator then released the grip and the machine came down with enough force that when a tire hit the ground - right on top of a small hidden stump, it punctured the tire at a cost of $1700.00

So that just made me think - how much would a tire for my Kubota cost if I do that - as I am clearing several acres of smaller trees and underbrush.

Thanks for the information, and I will keep it in mind- but hopefully I will not need it.

If the excavation company had a mobil tire company come out and change the tire on site I can easily see $1,700 for the repair.

That'll make a difference too, whether or not you have a mobile truck come out or you take the tire to a shop. Mobile rates a usually higher then shop rates.

Dan, I have rented tractors for 23 years and have never lost a rear tire. I use R-4 tires and they are tougher than goat guts. Having said that, I will get back 4 next week with foot long gashes.

The contractor was probably talking about a tire on a payloader. Those tires, which are now mostly radial tires, cost lots of money. A bias ply can run $800 plus to $1800 depending on the size and the radials can run up to $2-3000 or more. If he landed on a stump, it could have broken a cord inside ruining the tire.

Yes he was talking about a very large machine - it just got me to thinking how much a tire for my L4600 would cost. This being my first tractor, I had no idea what a tire would cost.

Thank everyone very much
