The little Ford 1210 has R1 tires. I used it for about 10 years with a back blade only. It has a couple small suitcase weights on the front. That tractor moves more snow than you'd think is possible.
Since 2002 the tractors (B7500, L3200 AND L4240) have all used R4's. I grooved them on the L3200 and L4240. It made quite a difference and these tires are good for everything I do. If I were to spec out a new tractor I'd probably try R14's, mostly out of curiosity.
