I had a old set of rear chains on my B7800 , 12.4 x 16 R4's tires, but they tended to twist and were rough riding on hard surface roads. I found a Canadian supplier with free shipping and picked up a set of DuoGrip chains and installed them this week. Cost was $528 CAD, here is a link to their site, http://canadianchains.ca/ .

Below is a youtube video of the chain installation and my modification of the securement hardware. I removed the side-chain end hook and replaced them with quick-links. I also used a 3/8" hydraulic hose to form a ring to allow the use of bungee cords on the axle side of the tire.

Great chains for R4 tires! I had (off now but still have them) ladder chains on my B2910 which is the same tractor as yours basically, and they fell between the lugs a lot, probably more than 50 percent of the chain was not used.

Your solution is perfect in my limited experience...
