Tips on removing 3-Pt attachments

First I have a baby tractor so I do not need heavy tools to work with it. Second I am cheap. I bought most my implements used but I also have some that are new. The best thing I bought was a small tool bag 9x9 that sits next to the seat. It is commonly called an electrician's bag. In it I carry the most used tools.

Claw hammer, very large Channel Locks and med. Channel Locks, pliers, fencing pliers, multi screwdriver, bungee cords, ratchet straps and gloves.

I have found the gloves keep hands cleaner as I grease the fittings a lot. I use the claw hammer and large channel locks to hook up and unhook the pins on the 3 pt. I do not hammer away but I can pry apart easily. The channel locks help closing the gap the last inch or so so the lock pin goes in without shaking and wiggling the implement.

The bungees and straps help pull apart the arms as I back up. With time I am getting better at hitting the right spot first try. It is kinda like hooking up to a trailer with 3 hitches at one time so practice helps.

I also bought a large package of extra pins and clips. What had the rings were changed to pins for faster hook and unhook like upper lift arms. When I go from 3pt to backhoe I can do so much faster and it is just as reliable. I do check the pins a lot for stretching and catching daily. I have broken pins as they catch on branches and stuff. That is why I bought them in bulk. I use the Rollover bar pins to hang extras off of. It also sounds cool with all the extra rattles. Now I can ride with the old tractors and sound just as cool.

Hope this helps. For the haters out there if it does not help or raise someone up why post it? Rather than say someone is wrong show how to overcome the problem instead. If a quick hitch is the best for you it may not be for someone else. and just because it does not work for you it may work for someone else. Explain why it does or does not work. The hate never worked for me and always left me in the cold.

Quick hitch is out of my budget. I've got MX4700DT, fyi. Here's how I do it. I back the tractor up to the implement. Set it up so that the lower link bits and the attachment bits line up as close as possible. Hookup the upper link first. It will prevent the implement from falling over [think Norse winch, grader blade, ripper], or hold it steady which ever applies. Then I connect the left lower arm [facing the back of the tractor]. Lastly, I will use the adjustments on the right lower arm to bring the two connecting bits together, push them together; lift the implement; adjust and tighten. Works for me. All the best.
