Timing bush hog 3008 blades

Is there a secret to getting the blades timed perfectly?

I have a 3008 bushhog and I had to replace the cross shaft assemblies. I had some vibration after replacing the parts so I put new blades on the bush hog.

I still have a little vibration and wanted to know if you have to time the blades perfectly?

The blades are not touching each other but because there is some play between the teeth in the gearbox it is damn near impossible to get them offset just like the manual says.

They look offset but you can grab one blade an push it and it will move some just due to the play between the teeth of the gears.

The hog is not moaning or making any other sounds. Stump jumpers look good.

I have always put them 90* apart. What I mean by that is put one across the direction of travel and one inline with the direction of travel. I think that is good as it gets.

Your shaft may be out of time when you replaced the U-joint. Maybe have to rotate the shaft 180 deg.
