OEM all the way. I believe that a manufacturer trust their name in a filter or oil then that's the one I'm using. I have been using motorcraft oil and filters in '05 F150 since new. It now has approximently 174,000 miles. No leaks , no oil burning, runs just like it always has. I know " motor oil is motor oil ,,,," but whoever makes OEM oil is doing a great job.

So , haven't you heard that saying " motor oil is motor,,, and ( blank) is ( blank). If you read my post you would see that I was praising OEM oil. That was a saying the old timers used to say and we all know its not true . And more to the point , I wouldn't blame a manufacturer for not standing behind their warranty if they make their own oil and filters and tell you to use only them. My point in case is my F150 . You WILL ruin the motor if you use anything but motorcraft 5-20w synthetic blend and motorcraft filters . If you don't believe me search it out yourself on any F150 forum. Geez

HD try's to do the same thing and have told customers they cant do this or that because it will void the warranty,, that's BS,, Read this there is a lot of inform that as a customer we should know abut the law

You beat me to it. M-M protects the consumer from an OE mandating OE equipment as well as other protections.

koja "you will ruin the motors".. Me and my dad must be getting some really good Fords. We have never had an engine problem and I hardly ever use motorcraft filters and motorcraft eng oil..

We don't need to argue over it i would assume hodge just meant i opened the proverbial can of worms with the oil and filters and hey, now i have an idea as far as whats wrong with my truck too Or he could have been refering to some of us diverting off topic no worrys, some of us have shorter attention spans and get distracted easy. And i wasn't even asking a question on post #1 Just letting folks know what i've run into with the new tier 4's with my dealers on the warranty's. Wasn't sure if kubota had the same policy, but it's something folks should look into before they accidentally void their warranties

I belong to another forum, where I spend a lot of time. One of the infrequent members gets REALLY bent out of shape if someone remotely changes the subject. I was kind of being tongue in cheek, thinking of him... he'd be really urked at such a rabbit trail that the discussion was taking.
I could care less where it goes. It just struck me as funny.

Ooops makes for interesting reading was trying to be helpful, pass on some info i came across. Who woulda thunk it. Didn't expect to get any responses. I'm curious to see how it pans out too. I am gonna bring up skeets link when i talk to the dealer this week and see what they have to say, just for the curiousity factor. I'll post back after

I went through this in Canada with VW saying the same in 2004 , buy our oil or no warranty on a diesel, I emailed the oil companies competitor in Europe, their engineering dept got back, and said their legal team are contacting VW with a cease order, as VW can only call out for a spec of oil, the manufactures pay big money to get the approvals, and will sue if they hear that nonsense, guessing oil filter companies will do the same.

After playing phone tag with the dealer, today, i finally got an answer. They started to say we had to use there filters. Then changed tunes when i brought up the law that skeets had posted the link too What it boils down too, is making sure to meet their specs on the oil and filters. Keep to their service intervals. And they really weren't to concerned about the oil or oil filter.
Their biggest beef was with the fuel system. They said to expect to be run through the coals on warranty issues if the water sensor has been tripped. And strongly recommended using there fuel filters. Apparently the fuel pump alone is 3500$ And to make sure and keep records of the oil and filter changes.
And surprisingly enough, he's gonna email me the code list. wouldn't fax it though since it's 50 flipping pages worth of codes

Now this was NOT ON A KUBOTA. It was through a different ag dealer. Check with your dealer to find out what there requirements are
