Back in the summer when I was shopping I heard that it was a good time to get a L3800 because the tier 4 engines were about to be introduced and the prices would go up. Did prices go up? How much?

I bought my 3800 in June, didn't know a different engine was being released ? The pkg. I got was $20, 000. L3800 dt, 524 loader, landpride 60" grader, landpride 60" mower, r 4's with loaded rears, a tee shirt, real tree camo Kubota hat, and 4 cans touch up paint, delivered 65 miles the next day. Lovin this tractor after 38 hrs. How do you know if you have a tier 4 engine, and whats the difference ?

Tier 4's are supposed to go up 15% in price sometime rolling out soon. My guess is when your dealer gets a new shipment of 2014's in.

I figured Kubota would have to change model number with Tier 4.

I paid 15k for my L3800DT w/loader 2 years ago.

That's a pretty good deal.

One positive thing I've seen w/ T4 seems to be 30%+ better fuel efficiency. I believe the 47hp T4 engine gets better consumption than my L3800

I have a friend of mine who is a PM mechanic for an International Truck dealer. So far all the complaints I've been hearing with these new diesels are yeah they get much better fuel economy but they are worthless as tits on a boarhog when it comes to HORESPOWER.

Guess ya can't have it all...

Do the new engines require DEF? I went ahead with the 2013 L-3200 and have no regrets. My dealer expected a 10-15% price increase and the same level of realiability.

That being said, his mechanic complained of boredom more than to much work.
