I have a L3400D tractor that I am having problems with. When trying to hold my brush hog at any level the tractor will start hopping up and down. I doesnt do it when the brush hog is off the tractor or when you are all the way up or down. Only when you are in between. Please help!

Does it do it when the pto is not engaged?

I had an L3400 with FEL that got jerky when I would raise the loader bucket. It turned out that there was a hydraulic suction line down by where your right foot rests that had a hole in it. I believe that caused air to get in the system causing the erratic behavior. I'm not sure if that suction line is the same for one without a loader or if it would affect the lift. However, you may want to check it because that was a common problem on that model.

I am only having the problem with the three point. Not the loader. Isn't the filter for the entire system? So if I had a clogged filter it would effect the loader also. I was thinking it was the pressure relief in the three point valve body.
