Three Bond equivalents

Try to find a cross reference for Three Bond products, but the all knowing Google has failed me. I have found a cross reference for Loctite/Permatex, but nothing for Three Bond.

Specifically, the WSM calls for Three Bond 1901 for the splines on the clutch boss. I'm guessing a Moly grease like Rotella SD Moly. And it wants Three Bond 1141 or 1211 for the joint between the flywheel housing and the clutch housing. I would typically use Permatex Ultra Black for that.

Any other suggestions? The 1901 I am rather uneasy about.

The Three Bond 1901 is an anti rust anti seize product using Moly.

From Three Bond's web site..

1901, 1910
This is a grease-type galling-preventing lubricant that uses
molybdenum disulfide as the base.
It has a low coefficient of friction, high lubrication, and extreme
pressure property, so it has excellent lubricity for heavy loads, and
can prevent abrasion, galling and seizure of parts.
It has excellent heat resistance and can be used at up to 400°C (for
galling prevention of screws and pins, up to 800°C).
There is a can type and an aerosol type available.

An equivalent product from Bostich which works from -150F to 1500 F.

The reason for use is to prevent the clutch disk rusting to the shaft splines:

Thanks for that. So far the best match I have been able to find locally is Jet-Lube 550-Extreme.

I've used Permatex never-sieze for 35-40 years, paid maybe $10 back then for a quart can, still got 10-15% of it left..and another full can that has to be 25 years old( $5 at a yard sale). Can't see me cracking that can opening before I die.....Every nut/bolt I undo gets a wee bit of it.

Thanks for that. So far the best match I have been able to find locally is Jet-Lube 550-Extreme.

I looked at the spec and it looks as good or better than the Three Bond.

In reality, the clutch disk splines are not a challenging application.

A dab of just about any anti seize will do it.
And yes Ultra Black or Ultra Blue will work fine on the case.

I am with Greensvillejay on the Permatex never seize. Great stuff. I think RTV is RTV so unless temperature is a factor go with whatever is local to you. Loctite brand is very common here.

On splined shafts or any other likely metal to metal contact, I like to clean them up real well and use molybdenum disulfide spray. It will go on like spray paint and dry to the touch very quickly. Use your lube of choice as other suggested above and it is almost foolproof.

I have always used a high moly content grease and applied a very thin coating. This is not a place for any excess lubricant migrating around. Surprised I was not aware as I am a user of CRC products. This would be a excellent application of a dry moly film. Have you done a follow up clutch replacement after many years, hours. miles? Thinking about rust. Thanks for sharing this option. Jeff

Glad you found value in the Moly spray.

I found similar product over 30 years ago when we used it to solve a critical metal wear issue in a product that had to last at least 30 years.

After numerous tests (durability, thermal stress, etc...) and seeing how dramatic the difference was, I started using it routinely with great results. It burnishes in, so it really doesn't add any significant thickness.
