I have leaking connections on a tractor hydraulic rear remote fitting and also on a diesel transfer pump. I've tried a couple of the stuff you brush on, one that never hardens, and one that does which are both rated for, I forget but several thousand psi, and although I didn't want to, carefully applied Teflon tape.
The hydraulic fitting is high pressure, but the transfer pump pressure isn't anywhere near high pressure. The transfer pump is low-quality Chinese threads, but the hydraulic fittings are not, but they both leak.
Am I using the wrong stuff or doing something wrong?

Not knowing the thread size, I would look at the Loctite literature. For example, I have used Loctite 545 on fine threads which works great. It is an anaerobic which depends on metal to cure.

Teflon hasn't been a problem for me and I'm assuming the tractor fittings are NPT, correct?

Using the tape, only wrap a few times in the correct direction. Then press the tape into the threads to help keep it from getting pushed up the fitting.

I use the cheap teflon tape too.

What type of fittings on the rear remote and exactly where is it located.?? Is it NPT or something else?

I cant imagine a threaded fitting on a fuel transfer pump leaking no matter where it came from.

I don't know the thread pitch, but I'm pretty sure it's NPT, not fine pitch.
I did wrap several layers of teflon tape in the right direction, and not the cheap stuff.
Looks like the appropriate Loctite may be the answer, price be damned!

NPT has nothing to do with thread pitch. Is it on a valve or something else? Are you sure its not BSPT or BSPP.? Are you sure its not an ORB or JIC fitting? Post a PICTURE

I have yet to come across a hydraulic fitting leak where the type of thread sealant was to blame.

It’s likely fittings that are mismatched, or fittings that are not supposed to have dope on them at all.

Sorry for posting such a ridiculous post. Thank you for all that tried to help, but I will not continue with this post.

I would tend to question the fittings, not the sealant. Doesn't take much variation/error in fittings/threads for there to be a hydraulic leak that sealant isn't able to fix.

It sounds as if you have mis-matched threaded fittings. Unless the male and the female threads are of the same type and count … they will never properly fit.

Most hydraulic fittings dont rely on the threads (with or without sealant) for the pressure seal.

This has to be the stupidest thread I've ever read...

Can you get any more vague???

Completely ridiculous.
And so, … you find it appropriate to rudely insult?

If you find a thread insufficiently virtuous to be worthy of your reading it….. then why do you respond to it in such way as to reveal your own defects?

I recently encountered problems trying to get some china pipe threads to stop leaking. I ended up chasing them with a USA tap and die then applying Blue Monster thread sealant. That combination worked for me.

I used this for decades for nearly everything.
It is good for gas, oil, diesel, most solvents, water, high pressure, low pressure, steam.
It is clay based.
I mainly like it for NPT threaded connections, like hydraulic fittings.
I have never had a joint leak using this stuff, but I can't say that about all the other stuff I've used.
But they went out of business.
