Thoughts on two 72 inch rotary cutters ?

Does anyone have any thoughts on a Landpride light duty rotary cutter 72 inch compared to the King Kutter Domed flex hitch cutter in 72 inch?
My Kubota dealer quoted the Landpride at $1900 with shear bolt, $2100 with slip clutch, pre-tax.
My local farm store sells the King Kutter for $1399 with shear bolt, pre-tax.

I own the 4 foot version of the King Kutter now and have used it for 3 seasons with no issues.

I guess what I am asking is anyone with experience with these two rotary cutters that can offer reasons to consider the $500 dollar more expensive Landpride over the King Kutter. Color of the cutter is not important to me.

This post not intended to bash one brand over the other, just want real world thoughts on these two cutters with price being a major factor.

I've no Land Pride experience. My five foot King Kutter is fifteen years old and still going strong. I use the mower on my Kubota L2501. If you're seeking a six foot mower for your L2501 weight on the three point may be a consideration.

The King Kutter has a estimated weight of around 700 lbs. My L2501 manual is telling me the lifting capacity 24 inches behind the lift points is still close to 1400 lbs.
I know that Kubota calls for a 5 foot mower behind the L2501 but my circumstances are very light cutting of weed heads in my newly planted prairie. And if I find it too much from a HP standpoint someone will get a good deal on a lightly used 6 footer, As far as physical size of the cutter Kubota recommends a 6 footer behind the L3301 and L3901, for all practical purposes the same sized frame and tractor as the L2501.

$500 in your pocket sounds much better to me. I would even look on crag's list for a used one. The slip clutch could be purchased separately if having the shear bolt turns out to be a problem. I would try it first without the slip clutch.

Ken, I think you will get away with a 6’ based on your light cutting of weed heads, if you were cutting longer full width material you may struggle with pto HP. I had an old flex link King Kutter, it was a good product. I’d save the money and buy K K or craigslist used. Just be careful not to buy a heavy duty unit with a 70 HP gearbox and lots more weight, i run Woods BBX models and would not put the 6’ on my L3200 or L3901 for any heavy cutting as I feel that they just don’t have the power for waist deep growth and that width of cutter. I do run a 5’ on my L tractors and they run that well in deep material.

I’d also stick with the shear bolt if you are only cutting light material. Slip clutches are nice but need to be set and maintained each season.
