I'm not sure if it will ever come about but turning 62 in two yrs and my girlfriend doesn't like winter we've talked about wintering in the south. Like North Carolina. We've traveled there a couple times NC and Tenn. I knew one couple who wintered 18 years in myrtle beach. He liked golf. They rented a condo on the beach. He golfed each day and and she did crafts and walked the beach. I'm not a golfer but love to walk and get outside as much as I can. I've thought about a fifth wheel to live in for the winter at a campground or a hookup site somewhere down there. Again a fifthwheel can be $30,K plus easly. But lots of four or five months rent in $30,K plus for quite a few years I would think. Then there is the lot rent for the fifthwheel. I'm not sure what monthly rent would be in the off season down there but we'll find out.
Anyone here from NC ?

Went to work today. Interstates are pretty clear. Getting out of the neighborhoods are interesting. To get into the work truck I had to go across the top of the driveway. Then slide down the driveway using the side of the truck for support. 🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂

Neighborhood streets are a solid sheet of ice. Road crews will only take care of main roads. All secondary roads are use at your own risk. 🙄🙄🙄🙄

The Sierra was frozen solid when I got to the shop. So I borrowed a couple bags of rock salt from the shop. And will add the two bags that I conveniently forgot in the bed of the truck to the stash at the shop once I can get the tailgate open 🙄🙄🙄🙄

Will probably have to salt the driveway once I get home tonight to get the work truck back in 😂🤣😂🤣🤣🤣 so far it hasn't warmed up like they said it would.

Little orange tried it's best.
Thin layer of sleet over a thick layer of ice.
Float the blade and it skips over the ice. Down force on the blade to get to ice and then the front wheels start to understeer. Had to play with the hydraulics every second. Multiple passes and drive is good enough.
Did not get stuck but those front tires paid the price.

Yep. We (Ohio) got some ice before the snow. My little atv did all she could, but at the end of the day the B had to come out and move some piles. Once the snow is taller than the blade she struggles especially with ice in the bottom. Idon’t have chains for the B (yet 😉 as I normally take care of snow with atv), and I most certainly had some traction woes. R4s pretty much worthless with ice as best I can tell. 😕

Our weather pattern for the next 10+ days is dry and low 30°'s at night and 60°'s daytime. That is perfect in my book.

We were a couple of inches short on rainfall for January and some portions of the state qualify is being in a drought.

Gully washers all morning. It will let up for a couple minutes to draw you out. And then once you can't avoid it, it unloads again.

We have been in the 70's for the past few days, but I went ahead and put a few sticks in the fireplace insert and shoved a stick of "fat lighter kindling" underneath. I'll stick the lighter to it before I leave for a sawmilling job tomorrow morning. I want her to be warm.

We have another line of rain that is about an hour away and then we should be done with the rain. Temp is forecast to steadily drop and be no higher than the 40's tomorrow.

Rain is forecast for every day next week with the temperature nearing 80° on Tuesday..

We have 4 days of rain forecast to arrive Monday morning and stay for 4 days with temperatures into the low 80°'s. There will be no sawmilling done by me until Friday.

It is NOT t shirt weather here. Finally up to 18 degrees, but windy to blow the newest snow around. Subzero wind chill. But yesterday with no wind you could feel that the sun had some warmth to it, Eureka! And I saw a couple of bluebirds in back pasture. They sometimes overwinter here, but usually don't return until mid April. There is hope.

Well, looks like we may be in for it again. NWS posted the following for our region:

Impactful wintry precipitation is likely Wednesday night through Thursday night.

Stupid groundhog

Our weather is being sucked up out of the Gulf so hot and rainy here. High 70°'s & low 80°'s this week and then dropping back into the 30°'s next week. Just our normal crazy weather that is controlled by the warm Gulf waters.

We had a trifecta today with the weather. Got about 80 miles from home for a service call. Got to the quarry around 11:15 and it started sleeting.

In 45 minutes when I finished it was starting to get pretty slick with about 1" of mush on the ground.

Poked my way out of the quarry and back into town. Had about 30 miles to get to the interstate.

Just as I got out of town it opened up. We had gully washing freezing rain, sleet, thunder and lightening.

Had to stop a couple of times to clear the wipers. Hit a truck stop just before getting onto the interstate. Darn wipers were sitting 3" off the windshield from ice build up. 😂🤣😂🤣

Also texted my boss and told him I was just gonna head to the house since it was the same distance as the office.

It took me 3hrs to go the 80 miles.

Round 2 with the same results is supposed to come through sometime tonight.
