I'll have to read the Bill because I really don't get what it is trying to achieve. We already have that right to carry if it isn't concealed. Not something I would personally choose to do in that manner.

I've had my CC for many years and hope to always have that in place. I would, however, like to see some minimum training requirements for those that wish to CC... IF that would pave the way to national reciprocity CC anywhere in the US outside of federal buildings with no other exceptions. Period.

Edit: all I'm trying to say here is that there are some real ignorant folks out there when it comes to handling pew-pews. It can be downright scary. I think we could be doing a better job in that arena.

I believe Philth-adelphia is an exception to open carry. Something aboot cities of the 1st order or somesuch.
hagrid. That is correct. And that's the BS that these bills are trying to address. Clearly unconstitutional. I have no idea how those arbitrary laws could've passed in the first place.

Same in PA. The only time you can euthanize someone that isnt actively shooting at you is if they corner you in your bedroom. Outside of that, if you burn someone down and you dont have bullet wounds... you're going to trial in all but maybe 15 counties.
That may not be the case. About 10 years or less ago an older fellow was riding his bicycle on the Thun trail near Reading. 3 punks that skipped school attacked him. He shot 2. One was killed and one is in a wheelchair, 3rd one got away if I recall. Our Berks County DA did not press charges.
Here in PA we have the Castle doctrine and the punks attacked him on his property (bicycle).
We don’t have to retreat.

Oh and our Governor already said he will veto the bill.🤬😩😡

Agreed. Castle doctrine states no duty to retreat in PA...

But you can bet you'll end up in court. Civil court at the very least.

Be that as it may be, but as a left winger, right winger, commie, socialist, etc...forget all the derogatory terms applied to independent thinkers, I truly believe that honest people should have the right to carry a weapon, the same as the bad guys do, since the bad guys do not follow any rules or laws.

Use it, and justify the use. Make a mistake and pay. Do it right and the bad guy pays...

I support the idea, even though I do not have a weapon I could carry concealed.

I really do believe it is only the undesirables that carry hidden weapons freely. Honest people do not because they follow the rules. Bad guys do not follow any rules.

But my first though was the same as Hagrid's...and actually the way things are...

I still like mail-in ballots for elections though... :ROFLMAO:  :ROFLMAO:
Mail in ballots are incredibly easy to manipulate!
An absolutely TERRIBLE idea!

Edit: In all fairness, this may be true. I kind of doubt it, but if so it could work to either party's advantage...so arguing against this may be arguing against oneself. At least in the long term.

Second edit: Unless one feels that those that live in this country who would like the convenience of a mail in ballot, are simply no nothings, of no worth, who otherwise would vote for the other party. Then mail-in ballots are undesirable from that perspective. But I thought our democracy was kind of based on one vote per person, and not based on somehow limiting how those votes are registered.

I personally will vote either way...or not vote like the recent election where I had no idea what the candidates stood for. BUT I personally like the convenience of just mailing in a ballot, rather than standing in line, sometimes for a hour, to cast mine.

Third edit: When I voted in 2016 I think it was, in front of me was a person and her mother. I am sensitive to people that have disabilities, since my sister was mentally retarded and lived most of her life in an institution.

Anyway, the mother(I assume) was able to go to the voting machine and help the daughter vote. This turned me off. I saw it as the daughter being manipulated. I could be right or wrong. No idea where the vote went. But left me with a negative feeling...

I've had a permit so long that mine is CC by default, even in New Yorkistan.

NYS did institute a 5-year renewal process a few years ago. They said no renewal reminders would be sent to permit holders. That's going to be a problem down the road, I'm sure.

By design is my cynical theory......

Agreed, there are some really ignorant people. Wife and I need to sign back up for the 5 year refresher to renew our cc permits.

Arkansas has some pretty good regulations in place to get your CC permit. Gotta do the 1/2 day class, and then demonstrate gun safety and show you can hit your target at the range. Plus state and federal back ground checks including the finger printing.

The also offer an advanced course with stricter requirements for those folks that feel the need to pack heat in church and schools.

Arkansas CC permit is one of the most recognized and accepted CC permits in other states as well. Last I counted, it was accepted in around 30ish states.

The exceptions are most of the east coast, west coast, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and I think Minnesota. Basically the states with the really severe gun laws.

Although since they don't accept an Arkansas CC permit, That states CC permit is not valid in Arkansas either. Basically the way the state looks at it, is if you don't except our permit, we won't except yours. 👍👍👍

These are strange times when we must pass laws to uphold existing laws. First step should be to enforce the existing law.
