I’m trying to figure out the best way to wire in the WRLong third function on my 4701.

Well there is no 'best' way, just 'better' ways....

It's all about the 'details' like

Adding an inline fuse ,rated for 3rd function solenoids/lights
Connecting to a switched power source, not live 24/7
Protecting all the wiring from chaffing, cutting, snagging
Securing all wiring, yet leave enough slack for both summer and winter operations
Photograph and record which wires go where, save this information in 2 or 3 locations
Properly FULLY test and retest the 'final' installation, confirm it's 100% 'done right'.

I'm sure others can add to my list......

Make sure that all connections are clean, tight, and waterproofed as best as you can. Draw a schematic and save it to your computer. Start a book with all things tractor-related saved in one place. I have a book of just the manuals that come with various things that have been added to the tractor, and another book (actually 2 books) with all the parts diagrams and part numbers/descriptions that I have downloaded from the Messicks website for Kubota accessory items.

Thanks,
I just read some posts in “customization “ about relays/fuse blocks. That sounds like the best direction vs. directly to battery. I also plan on some auxiliary lighting later so I’m thinking that might all come from the same block.

You have a switched 10A AUX circuit at the left rear fender. Really simple to plug ito it.

Looks like it. Its on the left side on an L3901. Thats B+ and GND and its switched and fused @10A. Probe it with a voltmeter to confirm. Should be perfect for supplying your 3rd function.

Ok, Thanks!
I‘ll check that out. I really need to get the Kubota back out of my garage this weekend, no heat in barn yet.

That plug is convenient. But if you need to apply power to a towable accessory, this won't be available.
My Dealer connected the 3rd function directly to the battery with an inline fuse. I am not impressed. I"ll change it to the fuse box someday if it becomes a priority.
